Thanks for watching the video. Sorry about that, it was an error on my part, it wasn't that the music was too loud it was the fact not all of the commentary was correctly boosted by 8db for youtube. I wrongly assumed selecting all the audio and applying the boost would boost all the audio but sadly this was an incorrect assumption. #fixed1tMONEYSAVINGtips

For even more stability take two building bricks (the type with a hole in the middle) and set them off at an angle of 90 deg. Stick the ground tube through it and then pour the concrete.

I was hoping this would show the depth needed and how to use the concrete mix in a hole.

It does, the depth minus 1 inch or 3 cm of the length of the spike you purchased to stick the Rotary Clothes line into making sure the spike is lower than the surrounding grass so your lawn mower doesn't fight with it. The concrete is a bag of 'post mix' tipped into the hole dry and filling the hole until the concrete is below the top of the spike and low enough to put the turf you cut out back into the hole. What do you use to cover the hole when not in use, to protect from water and debris?

The Turf I cut out when I started the dig, its was 5-7cm thick after filling the hole I placed the turf on top

I'm concerned about the fact that you have the steel pipe surrounded by wet soil and grass ..... this will speed up the rusting process. I would have thought it would be smarter to have the concrete footing sitting slightly proud of the soil level so the water would drain away and not have constant moisture sitting against the pole. Your thoughts?

Yosef your so right, a lot of money, and the cement was left over from a lot of move spent having somebody replace some fence posts after several bad storms and poorly treated wood put in by the builders. That job I didn't do myself as I didn't happen to have a 2 metre x 4cm steel crow bar for getting the old concrete out. #fixed1tGARDENINGtip

Buy the correct spike and then measure it allowing a few inches to put the turf back, and that length is the depth of the hole plus 2 inches. Thanks for the comment. It was a new spike I put in the hole, only because the old spike rotted in bare earth. But don't put the pole straight into concrete if you need to be able to spin it, as it spins in the spike holder and would be rock solid in the concrete. @@fixed1t Ahh I see. Oh I should have been more clear, by pole I meant a pipe for the drier to slot into. I have done mine now. I ended up making a holder out of some old pipe, fixing that pipe into the ground and putting the drier socket into said pipe for the drier to slot into. I noticed online that a lot of people used the drier socket to concrete in rather than the spike itself, but for me putting the socket into the ground would make the drier too low, so i wondered if concreting the spike in was good enough. In the end I just made something, as the spike was old anyway. Thanks for the reply though, much appreciated!!
