This washing line rusted completely through at the base and fell over. We cut off the rusted bit from the vertical shaft and dug out the anchor. We proceeded to disassemble it before sending the tubular steel shaft and the newly purchased anchor pin off for galvanizing. Once galvanized it was painted and the anchor pin was set in the concrete foundation. All painted parts were repainted and then the washing line was reassembled before being reinstalled.

The storm snapped my rotary dryer off and flung it across the garden and I discovered the bottom of the pole was rusty and jagged and I don't have a cutting tool like you have. It was fitted into a screw spike in the ground which is still there so I was thinking maybe a plastic plumbing pole which I found in the shed would be OK to put in the screw spike and then put the rotary dryer pole in the other end. Do you think it would be strong enough?.

It could be strong enough because some of that plumbing pipe is really tough stuff. I assume you mean 40 - 50 mm drainage pipe. It will largely depend on how thick the wall of the pipe is. Why not try it? In the worst case it works for a while while you can make a longer term plan. Just bear in mind that standing (sitting) water is not good for metal that can rust. Water may accumulate in the plumbing pipe. This is the reason I went with a rather large pin that that washing line pole slides over. It also explains the bit of plastic over the dome of concrete. This is all intended to shed water away from the steel.

If you check my Video out you will see I used a couple of metal pipes, one was part of a dismantled Rotary line that I had before - No need for any digging

@@julianswatteridge5995 Hi, When the water disappeared from the spike tube in the ground I picked out the other rusty jagged piece of metal I put the rotary dryer back with jagged end cos I don't have a metal cutter, anyhow it fitted in ok and I screwed it back in but now the dryer is too short. Tried to pull open the dryer arms and it won't open 🤔 Tried bashing it with a hammer that didn't work . So I unscrewed it from the ground spike and there it still sits leaning against a tree and the spike is surrounded by alpine strawberries which have grown all over the garden, a bird must have deposited the strawberry seed gift as it flew by. Thanks for your advice.
