Hi, I have dissolved salysilic powder in Sodium Lactate as you suggested, but the solutions are PH neutral. First solution was 5gr of powder in 20 ml of SL, the second one 10ml of SL and 10gr of the powder and both are PH neutral. I don't think that would acieve any effect on the skin. Could you please advise?

I made two separate azelaic acid moisturizers in the past 2 weeks. You can disolve azelaic acid in diols, glycerol, and glycols. From my research you want to heat it to 104f because if it's heated too high it can recrystalize. I bought a serum that would recrystalize and you just have to stick the bottle in hot water. I dissolve 10% azelaic acid in a 20% mix of propylene glycol, ethoxydiglycol, and glycerin. The first time I was doing a bigger batch and the azelaic dissolved faster, but I screwed up by using a emulsifier that needed to be heated because I had to add the azelaic solution in the cool down phase and it broke my emulsion fluffy I salvaged it with sepigel 305. The second time I had to heat it to 135f to dissolve and when I added the solution to the water it turned into a fluffy light lotion like viscosity. I used sepiplus 400 and sepgel 305 and it turned out amazing!

I just recently bought azelaic acid and have made 2 moisturizers in the past 2 weeks. You can use diols, glycol, glycerin, and organic solvents. You don't want to heat it too high, so try to keep it under 104f so that it won't recrystalize. I did a 20% mix of propylene glycol, ethoxydiglycol, and glycerin and he first time I did a bigger batch and it dissolved easier. This last time I had to heat it to 135f and it was fine. The first time I used a hot process emulsifier and then I broke the emulsion by adding the large cool down phase of azelaic solution. But I was already adding sepigel 305 so I increased the percentage and was able to salvage it. This last time I used sepigel 305 and sepiplus 400 and it turned out perfect!

No. Adding an acid to Cold Process Soap will counter the effect of Lye, an Alkali. Please do not use it in cold process soap. Also, it works well with pH 5. CP soap pH is 7.0. So it is of no use. Hi i just want you to know the updates. Even my SA didn't dissolve that well in water phase (some dissolved some don't, it makes my water mixture looks cloudy) i choose to continue making my lotion like usual, and turns out my final lotion texture is alright. No grainy/lumpy feeling etc. I can even say its perfect just the way i wanted. And i added your citric acid solution to tone down the pH as well. I'm so happy because my first SA lotion batch is succeed! So i wonder, is my SA finally dissolved in emulsified phase? Or its still not dissolved but i just can't see it because its covered by the lotion creamy color? And... would it be harmful in the long term if i continue making my SA lotion this way? So far i tested in on my legs and it feels just fine... no irritation...

Emulsified Body butter with water so you can adjust the pH. Salicylic acid will irritate the skin if ph is not adjusted to 4.5 or 5.

Hii... I tried to dissolve in glycerin... But some particles are still visible.... Is it safe to use in my cream formulation..when I used it in my cream formula it looked fine... Plz help

Try another solvent. Glycerin is not the best solvent for Salicylic acid.

While makip CP soap, if we add salicylic acid after mixing sodium hidroxide and oils at the end what happens?

No Salicylic acid can't work in CP soap. It requires pH of 4.5 to work optimally. the ph of CP soap between 9.5 and 11.5. It is a waste of precious active. Use salicylic acid in liquid soap or toner. It is only meant to be used by trained cosmetic chemist. It can irritate the skin if done improperly.

Hello and Thank you for the video. I am making an Acne Mask with SA and activated charcoal. I also want to add a small amount of Rose Petal Witch Hazel and Honey). First, I plan to follow your step (mixing SA and glycerin, taking it to hot water to disolve). Next, can I add the disolved solution to the powder charcoal? Also Can I apply it to the face after adding the charcoal and the 2 other ingredients? I will appreciate so much it if I can get any feedback. Thank you.

Learn cosmetic formulation first if you want to use SA to make beauty products. If you apply like you said in this comment, it will irritate your skin. SA is not good for DIY formulation. It is only recommended for professional cosmetic formulation by trained formulators.

the salicylic acid dissolved perfectly (clear) in the warm sodium lactate but as soon as the sodium lactate cools down the SA starts to crystallize (the crystals are softter, it's weird). Can you help me?

May be you overheated it. All it needs is slight warming. Try another solvent mentioned in the video

citric acid is perfect for adjusting the pH of Salicylic acid or any BHA active
