@tbuffi3790 yeah I have to spread my work out based on what materials I have at the time. if you have the materials, it's a day job or less.

Could you explain the "week later". I see the garage being seriously off its square and on the original foundation, so why was it raised 3'?

my garage is 56' wide and 31' deep. i want to raise it 6". im thinking of just bracing across the 3 doors with a truss and running a beam the depth of 31' on each side and one center. then just jacking from there? think that would work?
@MooseDoesStuff
@MooseDoesStuff 2 жыл бұрын
if you can jack near where the beams attach, you should have better luck than I did. you honestly don't need a lot of lifting points, just enough room to build whatever you need to underneath

Great videos, watched all 3 and realized you're in my city. I'm in Braeside and about to do same job by smaller, 24' x 16' unfinished and only up 4". LVL beams, correct? Where did you buy? Did you consider steel beams under the hydraulics? If not, why? Thanks!
@MooseDoesStuff
@MooseDoesStuff 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on your siding you might have a much easier go of it. Mine had stucco which added a lot of weight. I used LVL, call around for current prices, no idea what it's like now. No need for steel under the jacks, concrete and pavers did the job for me. I didn't go with steel for the beams because it would cost a lot more and I'd have no use for them after. reselling beams isn't easy. The main thing to consider is how much working room you'll need to do whatever forming if you're pouring new concrete. For only 4" tho some people might just want to use bricks or cinderblocks.
@zanekryzanowsky
@zanekryzanowsky 2 жыл бұрын
LVL it is, I'll start calling around. Vinyl siding here, do you think regular 2x10 framing lumber would be strong enough for the perimeter where screwed/bolted into the studs?
@MooseDoesStuff
@MooseDoesStuff 2 жыл бұрын
@@zanekryzanowsky if you're following the same pattern, attaching the 2x10s to all the studs, then definitely. I used lvls because I was buying them anyway for something else.
@zanekryzanowsky
@zanekryzanowsky 2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear, much easier option to go 2x10s all around if that will be sufficient. Will reinforce the contact area with a steel plate, etc. I'm going to copy your exact method, feel much better now that I have the start of a plan, thanks!

Not a great way on how your stacking your blocks That could tip over very easy

@@MooseDoesStuff Them blocks are not made to carry a load like that. Wrong type of blocks also you should use cribbing
@MooseDoesStuff
@MooseDoesStuff 2 жыл бұрын
@@snicks50 That sounds like it wouldn't be any less likely to fall over. The base of these was 2'x2', which is plenty wide to prevent tipping. Getting 4x4s as "proper cribbing" would have cost 30$ per layer per post, and getting that up to 3' tall needs 11 layers. 11x30x4=1300$+ of never reusable material. Or I could use what I used which I had, which was free. And didn't tip over.
