Fiberific! Ep#56 How to diz a batt, How to what a what now?
Do you want see how I make roving out of a batt? I use the Majacraft Brass Diz, its gorgeous looking and awesome to use too! Almost as gorgeous as Janet Day's Beautiful Batt - keep an eye out to get your own! myspinonthings.com.au/product-... Preparing our fibre for spinning can be just as enjoyable as the actual process of spinning, and the different Fibre Prep create different types of yarn. Using a drum carer helps to create a really nice woollen finish on the yarn. Turning that Batt into roving makes it easier to spin, or at least it does in my opinion. Personally I prefer a nice smooth batt to make a nice smooth yarn, but that is the charm of spinning our own fibre, we can all make just the yarn that we love or need for a particular project. So lets get on and make some roving to get our spin on
If you are within Australia or New Zealand you can buy your Diz from me! fiberific.com.au/product/maja...
And if you are outside of Australia or NZ, please use this link to order from Amazon, it will still support this channel! amzn.to/2r8dUGl

I know this video is six years old… but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve only just gotten into spinning but am crawling down the rabbit of everything connected to spinning each time I have a few minutes. I’ve never tried my hand at dizzing but it seems like such a good method for fibre preparation that I now want my own diz. This gad me eyeing the pieces of coconut shell I have in the kitchen. Perhaps I can saw a piece into an oval and drill different sized holes in it. I’ve got a few bits I can use to smooth out the edges of the holes. The natural curve of the coconut shell should work nicely for a diz. Some rigorous sanding to get the outside smooth as well, and I should end up with a beautiful diz. Best part: I’ll have made it myself, and from something that would otherwise have ended up in the trash. Thank you for your video, you just gave me yet something more to try out! And if that diz turns out to work well, I might even make a second one for the friend who got me into spinning!

"Off you go!" may be the best outro ever. Relearning how to use my spinning tools after a long pause. So much time I was afraid I had forgotten everything I taught myself. Yesterday I spun for the 1st time in 2 years or more. It was very much like riding a bike but I still feel a bit wobbly! (Still looking for where I put my diz!)

Thank you for this inspiring video. I have never seen it done like that before. I've always dizzed it off the combs. But there are so many ways to do it!

Thanks Chantelle. I have no idea how to spin, but watching this, with your diz, is starting to niggle at me. I have 2 Ashford wheels that I purchased at flea markets years ago, I have no idea how to use them, but I do know I need belts(?) for them. Every time I see or hear of your spinning exploits I hear these wheels calling to me. Keep on with the videos and I may make the connection with them....if I find the time to fit it in. I do like your videos.

Thank you for this video on using a Diz. I have heard the term, but haven't seen it done. I have several art batts, that I think would be great to use with a Diz. Would like to see more videos from you on all aspects of spinning -- especially supported spindling.
