Just a tip, when you reassemble the gun, after you depress the trigger and push the striker forward past the sear, turn the safety on. This will hold the striker in place so you don't have to hold it with your hand while putting the top cover on.

Thank you both. I have 2 expensive ar 15's but I like my t97 gen 3 much better because it's so short and I can take it anywhere

On a field strip and clean you should also clean the gas system by removing and cleaning the piston at the front of the receiver.

I was always thought you had to take off the flat top upper to do a field strip of it. That is what I always did on my T97, well now I got a new way.

Personal preference; I like to use a bit of Lucas lube on the bolt rails and where there's signs of wear.

Hey thanks for the vid, just got one myself. I was wondering how to move the charging handle to the other side like yours.
@BlackBearOutdoors
@BlackBearOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
You will need to remove the top rail. That will give you access to the charging handle. Then you need to remove the small hex screw that holds the charging handle in place. Once that is done you can pull it out the one side and flip it to the other. Mine was pretty tight so had to use a soft punch to tap it out. Hope this helps and thanks for supporting our channel!

Hey there, fresh PAL holder here, just picked this up as my first rifle, what are recommendations for how often to field strip and lube, after every outing?

So, if you could only own one gun, that you could not sell or trade, ever, that both cost the same amount of money which would you pick? 1) Type 97 g3 5.56 nato 2) Troy PAR 5.56 nato
@BlackBearOutdoors
@BlackBearOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Tough question. I have never shot the PAR so it would have to be the T97 Gen 3. Fun gun and 100% reliable based on my sample of one

I thought you shouldn’t reverse with the brass/bronze brush to avoid damaging the crown of the barrel.
@Mk2four3
@Mk2four3 Жыл бұрын
You thought right, shouldn't do that even with cleaning rods always feed them chamber to crown. If there's brass\metal shavings on the bore snake you'll wear down your crown and accuracy will go kaput.
@DarkCatfish
@DarkCatfish 2 ай бұрын
Brush isn't gonna hurt the crown especially if you push it all the way through before returning.

How do you switch the charging handle from right to left? A previous comment says just pull it out, another says remove the top rail first...
@tmpopescu
@tmpopescu 2 жыл бұрын
Found it. Remove top rail, the charging handle has a screw there. onscrew it, pull out the handle, insert it on the other side, put the screw back and reinstall the top rail.

so I just received my Type 97 and wanted to change the charging handle to the left side of the rifle. I removed the top rail to access the hex screw holding the charging handle only to discover there was no hex screw..... so I just reversed it by pulling the handle out and sticking it in the other side. It did seem to click into place but I'm afraid it will fall out at some point and I will lose it. Does anyone know exactly what screw it is so I can go to the hardware store and buy one?

Can 5.56 ammo be use in the T97 3 Gen ?

Yes, its built for both ammo, I shoot both 223 and 556, and you might see flame when firing 556.

That looks like a pretty basic-looking Bushnell Red Dot (with its own integrated mount) on the rifle's rail. It looks similar to my basic inexpensive Tasco Red Dot. May I ask how it worked-out for you ... the kind of results ... and your impressions? I am guessing that the large-sized dot and zero magnification would almost rule-out gopher shooting out past 50 metres, right? Thanks!
@BlackBearOutdoors
@BlackBearOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
The bushnell hit a 6 inch plate at 200y no problem. I believe it is a 2 or 3 moa size dot
