How to do an oil change on a 2017 Honda Accord

How to do an oil change :
Step 1: Make sure vehicle is turned off and gather all neccessary tools and fluids
Step2: Find the oil filter and engine oil pan.
Step 3: Drive vehicle up ramps , place drip pan underneath oil pan, unscrew the oil pan bolt to drain oil. When done draining place bolt back on and tighten it.
Step 4: Using the oil filter tool and a towel, remove the oil filter and let it drain into the oil pan. Note- some vehicles will have a skid plate that blocks the oil filter or engine oil pan so you may need additional tools to remove it.
Step 5: Place new oil filter and screw it on hand tight. Clean any oil spills that may remain on engine oil pan or oil filter.
Step 6:
Place new oil and check the dip stick. Remove all tools that are underneath the vhehicle.
Step 7: turn on Engine and take it off ramps.
Step 8: Check oil and fill again if necessary.
Step 9: Reset engine oil life on dashboard (refer back to owners manual or watch another youtube video). Check for any leaks and tighten them down if still loose.
Step 10: Test drive. You are done!

If you change the oil filter, you have to start the car so that the new oil filter is primed. Otherwise, you're going to be about a half quart low. So yes, the fact that the car is on ramps skews the dip stick reading a little, but the biggest reason is the new oil filter not being primed by starting the car after the oil change.

Yes sir driving the car off the ramps gets us a accurate reading of oil level. For both reasons the car being level and filling the filter.

I always fill the oil filter with oil. Takes about 3 pours to the top as it absorbs into the filter. Put the filter in no issues with priming. Trick I learned years ago.

Made matters worse by not removing that pan. You should also fill the oil filter half way before putting it on. The manual tells you how many quarts. You can go just below that . Start the car and roll it off. Shut it down, wait a minute or two then check it again. Car must be level to get an accurate reading.

Yes! Moble 1 is a good brand. The brand of oil is not important but the weight is.
