I 100% agree “Becoming Babywise” was the only book i read when i was pregnant, my son is now 8 so i know its been a while but i tell ya it was wonderful. Healthy balance is everything he was sleeping through the night by 4 wks, I limited how much i allowed him to cry and i would never let him suffer but bedtime is time for sleep we cuddled and he received lots of love but as long as he wasnt hurting or in distress he cried and soothed himself to sleep, he has never had trouble w this, my sister on the other hand her 2 are 2 and 4 and still dont sleep through the night everything for her has been child led and shes and they are miserable bc of it.

Haha my sister also followed attachment style parenting and my nephew is 4 his only coping mechanism is breastfeeding still and he’s not a good sleeper or independent either. I’m due in 2 months and knew I wanted to do something different and more sane 😂

Im sorry you have gotten such negative comments. Mother of my forth baby here and have ended up doing this in a caring loving way. This helps mothers that are struggling with being the best mom they can be. Not everyone wants or can just follow all child’s wants. You can direct them and set the tone. Whoever hasn’t experienced it can’t judge.

My mom did babywise on me in the late 90's, and aside from lifelong insomnia, eating disorder, and severe recurrent major depressive disorder I turned out just fine.

Interesting how the babies "struggle to make it to 8am". Mine sleeps til noon, and stays up until as late as 2am. T_T Nightshift worker like her daddy.

Bizarre. I would not treat a dog in this bizarre way. "Self sooth"?! I don't consider crying to the point of exhaustion to be self soothing.
@BabywiseMom
@BabywiseMom 2 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to do crying to the point of exhaustion in order to self soothe. Refer to my sleep training 4 S’s to see the process I recommend to teach babies to self sooth. It requires little to no crying (my experience has been no crying).

Agreed. No newborn should be left to cry themselves to sleep. Why do some people have kids when they obviously don't want to be bothered with them? This B.S. is neglectful.

@@anwyn9846 these are some lazy ass moms. They can’t wait for these babies to go cry themselves to sleep. This is a damn cult 😂😂😂

My tiny puppy had to learn to stay in his kennel and learn not to whine or bark. This is not cruelty. It’s hilarious that you believe that adults are going to need therapy because they were allowed to cry for 15 mins at nap time 😂

I dont agree with babywise. It is not natural at all. Babies,kids are not robots. Parenting is about enjoying your child etc. Not training them by book. It is sick and i am sure it is trauma for kids too.
@BabywiseMom

Babywise is all about reading and following the needs of your child. It definitely is not a "robot" situation. My kids are now 9-17 and I have no regrets! They are amazing kids doing amazing things.

I don't see how all babies are made to sound all the same. They're individuals. What if they have colic or cramping difficult feeders, can't latch, cramping there are numerous reasons why each feed won't be the same. This sounds like working fine if babies were little robots & life wasn't happening." Self soothe" my baby is screaming himself to sleep. Utter exhaustion. Not for me thank you. 😠

There are definitely extenuating situations that change how you approach things. My second child had reflux and we had to change how we did things and also change timeline goals. The great thing about Babywise is that is Parent Directed--meaning the parent decides what to do for the individual baby. Also, self-soothe does not have to require any crying at all. I used a method called the 4 S's, which is a no-cry sleep training method.
