My vocal chords just dry up, any help?
@rhythmmmmm.9 ай бұрын
Dry up? I'm not sure what you mean. Are you able to make the throat clear noise?
@alexandermeade58479 ай бұрын
@@rhythmmmmm. yes, but it hurts immediately after, as if my chords dried up, maybe too much air is getting through?
@rhythmmmmm.9 ай бұрын
@@alexandermeade5847 It's hard to say without hearing you, my guess is you're not actually engaging the false chord, and you're making a sound with your peripheral tissue, which will make your throat upset, scratchy, and your eyes water until you cough for real.

I have had this same problem for a long time and dont know how to change it so kinda just stopped screaming. I would still want to learn screaming but i always get that problem no matter what video i watch. Can you tell me how i can actually use my false chord instead of the peripheral tissue

If it isn't 100% clear that you are mimicking the technique at any point then you should go back a step. Vocals shouldn't hurt

@@rhythmmmmm. Sorry for the vague and impolite comment, and I hope you don't take it personally. But I legit just got a bit annoyed at this ngl. The advice is not only really vague, but also very misleading and risky as a result. As someone who has been learning screaming for years, I can tell you with extreme confidence that a large fraction of people WILL get this wrong and activate the wrong part of their throat - the explanation can easily lead someone to use their epiglottis and other similar parts of the larynx, which is dangerous. Clearing the throat does not occur through the false cords, they just so happen to get activated at the tail-end of the sound for a lot of people, but not everyone. Not even a majority, I would think. I for one have to work extra hard to get absolutely ANY false cord engagement when clearing my throat. FYI, I already know how to use my false cords, but following your advice somehow made me hurt my throat anyways. That's... kinda bad. I personally really don't like the idea of adding methodology (or the lack thereof) that is extremely outdated on top of the pile when renowned vocalists/vocal teachers are finally making rounds teaching this on KZbin anyways. It really dilutes the results and makes it harder to push more correct and accessible teaching. Just food for thought.

@@shaunpocalypse this video was sent to one person and made public because I often tell people the same things. The advice does work and it's how I teach people, and this method consistently works in real life though.
