Be aware that Greece is not just incredible islands. Greece's mainland is simply equally gorgeous and immensely diverse. The islands are all combined immensely diverse too which makes the country just a collection of parasides. But if I hear the person in the video talking about islands in the way she does, she comes across as pretty unaware of Greece's most overlooked beauty. - Greece is also 80% mountains and 20% of ALL of Europe's Ultra peak mountains lies in Greece. Ultra peak mountains are mountains that rise atleast 1500 meters above its lowest surrounding point. Meaning the real visual height of a mountain. Greece has 19 Ultra peak mountains. For reference. Switzerland has 8, Austria 12, Croatia 0, Spain 4 on its land territory. Meaning Greece is a tremendously mountainous country with truly spectacular scenery that most people dont know. Greece has also 400 wetlands another thing most people are not aware of. with Greeces 80% mountains and 16.000 km of the most crystal clear waters, there are also a lot of rivers and deltas and and so on from the mountains towards the sea. For comparison. A country the size of Turkey has only 110 wetlands. So it comes to give an idea of how wetland rich Greece is. Also Greece has 800 natural hotsprings which is some of the most in the world. Also 15.000 caves. A whole arch of many volcanos. Among which Santorini is the largest sea volcano in the world Another thing. Greece lies on 4 tectonic earthplates which gives Greece its immensely diverse mountains, landscpses, geology, immensely diverse geography and topography. Greece lies on the European, African and Asian plate which comes together inside Greece. And the 4th one is the one that got crushed inbetween the other 3 And this is just a tiny starter of what Greece truly is about. It has also the highest biodiversity in Europe due to how isolated so many areas of nature is because of the 80% mountains and islands that each creates isolation

Hi! Do you have any recommendations on multi day hikes through villages in the north of Greece???
@Ptolemy336VV2 жыл бұрын
@@georgiamills8769 I do actually. Sorry for the late reply. There are endless opoortunities. You could do the Epirus trail which is in North Greece and multiple days. You can do a longer multi day hike over Mount olympus. And then wonderful mountain areas which many you can combine if you take a good look at the following areas on the map in detail. In short you can have immense hiking route or any section of it from Grammos Mountain to Tymfi and Smolikas mountain in region of Zagori. Then to Tzoumerka mountains (lakmos,etc) pass the Baros Pass, Verliga springs, many waterfalls, and then over the Pindus mountains, Acheloos valley, Evrytania and Agrafa mountains, to Mount Timfristos and the area of Karpenisi and Proussos and then to Mount Chelidona to Mount Varousia to Mount Giona to mount Parnassos. This will be weeks worth of hiking 100% Some names and regions you can check out - Epirus (incredible prefecture full with stunning mountains) - Zagori - Pindus mountains, - Vikos gorge (one of 3 deepest gorges in the world and the deepest regarding width-depth ratio - Tzoumerka mountains, and it's many waterfalls - Aoos gorge - Timfristos mountain, - Aoos river - Acheron river - Mount Olympus, rising 2918m meters straight out of the sea and is one of the 10 most prominent mountains in all of Europe - Tymfi mountain with the incredible dragonlake on top of it - Taygetus mountain a wonderful mountain that rises also 2400+ meters out of the sea close to the coast which gives dramatic views on both sides of the mountain - Kremasta lake among many other mountain lakes with incredible scenery around and incredible water colors in various parts -Rhodope mountains, one of the least degraded forests in all of Europe. there is a very good 1 hour documentary on the Greek part of the Rhodope mountains on KZbin - Koronisia an incredible polynesian group in the Ambracian gulf which was many wetlands too rich with birds - Plastira lake another wonderful mountain lake - Smolikas mountain with a dragon lake and outlook on the mount Tymfi - Acheloos valley with an incredible river delta and scenery very unknown to people - Voidomatis river together with the Archeron river and Aoos river one of the cleanest waters in all of Europe and even the world - Prespes lakes, also is incredible and different, it has less than 3 people per km2 and the scenery reminds of Mongolian scenery - Mount Giona, Mount Vardousia, are both mountains opposite from eachother 2500m - Evrytania region is another incredible mountain region with one of the most untouched mountain areas like Agrafa mountains - Meteora, a perfect geological paradise among many other lesser known and plenty geological paradises - Mornos lake - Kerkini lake which is 1 of the 2 most important birding places in all of Europe - Amvraikos gulf - Methana and Methana volcano - Parnassos mountain, - Dirfi mountain on Evia - Aoos lake, - Mesolonghi wetland - Lake Doxa between mountains - Mount Chelidona, - Pelion mountain of the centaurs - Lichadonisia another wonderful polynesian island group - Mount Aroania, - Athos holy mountain, the only monastic state in the world. the mountain rises 2034m straight out of the sea. Incredible views like all the mountains in Greece

@@Ptolemy336VV wow! Thank you so much for the info. If you don’t mind me asking, as we are travelling from Australia we haven’t brought anything in the likes of tents/sleeping equipment or cooking equipment. Is there a trail you can recommend from this list that goes through small towns or has cabins that would be suitable for a 2-4 day hike?

When i was your age i did some travel reportages for Elle Magazine. I was also there in the Ciclades twice. But you know i regret that i didn’t enjoy that part of my life like a normal turist. To do a reportage its take time, no including the writing. Now my dear Im 58 and I have youngkids. I still do photography bud weddings in the summer. I beliebe the best its to have a normal job and do some freelancing beside. All the best from Oslo.

Many folks struggling to cover basic expenses often face this challenge because they didn't save enough during their working years. The choices made in preparing for retirement have significant impacts, as seen in my own family. Different investment strategies led to different outcomes. With guidance from a financial advisor, I'm now enjoying my retirement.

I get seasick too and it’s actually best to eat something healthy that you know will feel good in your stomach before going on a boat rather than going hungry (and maybe being stuck eating something not to healthy later on) It sounds counterintuitive but it helps to have food in your stomach. I’ve made that mistake before too

They are the two most expensive islands in Greece and even though everyone accepts credit cards in some instances you will require cash as well. Everyone knows some have a habit of the system is down and you can't pay by credit card. In some cases true in some they want to avoid paying taxes. Always ask for a receipt. I should know,I'm greek and it still happens to me lol!
