Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes you can get started without really purchasing any new setups... just work with what you have already in your arsenal. I started out years ago with a spinner, loaded it with braid and started figuring things out. what you need is a shock absorbent rod, one with enough flex to pitch the jig and then let it fall... Make sure you have braid, jigging is ineffective if you don't have braid... Mono stretches too much for proper jig reaction. Yes by a tsunami trophy slow pitch rod for a 100 bucks and a shimano torium 16hg will do.as well as a thousand dollar set up

What's the logic behind using Mono over FLouro?

I have found there to be no difference in the hook up ratio when it comes to using mono or fluoro for your leader when slow jigging. They both have the elasticity component that helps set the hooks. why do you need a shock leader thank you

Braid doesn't stretch and it's highly visible. Leader adds shock absorbency so you don't yank the hooks out of the fish's mouth and it gives you a stealthy presentation.
