Today I am here with one of the greatest Judo practitioner, Ilias Iliadis. He is a 2004 Olympic Judo Champion, and multiple time Judo World Champion. I am always so interested to see different types of grappling like wrestling and Judo. I believe that both of them have something great to offer the Jiu Jitsu practitioner.

My son does BJJ and judo…I feel so fortunate. He’s training with a man who lived in Japan and has been studying Judo for almost 50 years and he charges $45 a month. The first time he said that I thought he meant weekly but he’s says “no that’s monthly...20 classes for 45 dollars.” 😳

Judo is cheap and widely available 🙌

Judo is cheap compared to BJJ. In my country is about $5/12 sessions permonth while BJJ is about $100/10 sessions permonth.

Mr Faria, I believe there are certain points needed to be mentioned here in this demonstration. As you can see, Ilias' right grip is at the level of midclavicular line (medical term). That grip closes the distance between him and you while having control of your movements. Next, his right elbow creates an opening by raising your hand (at the level of your triceps). In order to achieve such a great opening he needs more leverage which he gets while having control over your other hand which is trapped because his grip is behind your elbow thus making it impossible to pull your hand back without being exposed to several other throws. Massive respect for your work and your attitude. Hope we meet one day.
