My therapist got me into walking. She explained that walking has been proven to help clear your head. It has something to do with using both sides of your body evenly. Anytime you can alternate your body from right to left like that, it will help with rationalized thinking and therefor help with anxiety.

I walk to and from work a lot (sometimes ya girl is HELLA late and catches a bus or taxi) but it's one of the best parts of my day bc I'm like "yaaasss air" and also it's so second nature to me now i can completely zone out and let my mind run over what it wants to, and somehow I end up at work and I'm like ???? But I notice when I don't have that bit of movement cos I'm often more pissy about minor things and bored SO easily over the day. Also recommend going for a walk at lunch, just like 10-15 mins cos it REALLY helps with the afternoon slump and it's reduced mine from like 2 hours to 20 mins and I cannot stress enough how much the lunch time walk has changed my life 👌

I really had to think hard on that question.. I've taken a lot of walks, in many places, and I feel like I get something different out of each walk. With that said, the best walk/hike would hands down be at Noosa National Park in Australia. It was absolutely unreal, unlike anything i've ever laid my eyes on!! I would travel all the way from Ontario again JUST to take a walk there one more time😍

By far the best place I’ve ever taken a walk was in Oregon State on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. The first time was the first time I’ve ever seen the ocean and it was such a cool experience! I go every year and every time after that has been just as wonderful as the first. My favorite time to go is at night. When it’s dark and you don’t know where the waves are coming from and how high up they are. All you can do is just listen and walk in the darkness, and the most you can see is the horizon, all the way out into the water. To me that is the best time to practice walking meditation, because there is nothing to distract, and I can just walk with my thoughts and the sound of the waves. :) Thanks for this video and all of the daily brews this month. It has been very enlightening and I feel that I know so much more about you than I ever did before. I also love that you’re asking your viewers questions and wanting to get to know us better. It shows you truly do care about us and how we are liking the content you’re putting out for us. And I at least love your hard work and dedication to this channel, your main channel, and your blog. You’re such an inspiration to so many people, thank you.

I just walked today! I try to get in my daily steps and stay somewhat active and I definitely do walking meditations but I have never worded them that way before. It's always something I can do to clear my head and get away from sitting down for such long periods of time. Its the best way to waken yourself up naturally without coffee, in my opinion. If I end up not going out more for these long walks, I tend to feel lethargic and unmotivated.

It's awesome that you do this kind of thing. Awareness/Consciousness are extremely important! 😊 So much so, to me, that I'm just now finishing the last 2 wks of the first ever 6 mo course Eckhart Tolle has offered! (on scholarship, too!) He and his wife, Kim, opened the School of Awakening this January. It's been incredible to study directly under those two! 🙏 What I want to say, though, is what you described sounds like a mindfulness walk. Meditation is quite different. With meditation, you don't want to notice the animals or clouds or anything. You focus on one thing (gaze down at the floor) & just BE. If a thought comes, notice it, honor it, & let it go. Quickly. Then go back to your focus - your breath or an intention. 🧘♂️ Both meditation & mindfulness help you become aware and conscious and lose the ego, etc..., but they do it in different ways. Mindfulness is being mindful - noticing what's around you & appreciating it all for what it is. No judgment. Nothing is more important than anything else. You are being totally present in both, but meditation involves the lack of thought. You should totally look up walking meditation, though. It's really cool. You just wear socks or go barefoot and put one foot on front of the other, toe to heel focusing completely on what's happening in your feet as you slowly allow your foot to fully touch the ground to where you can put your weight on it - that's your focus, instead of your breath (& we are breath bc it's something we always have with us & is easy to use). I've taken classes for years and have practiced (& "studied") both mindfulness & meditation on a daily basis 😊 And it's been the greatest thing for me, I can't even begin to explain. If you want to tell ppl about what you're learning, def keep reading & researching, but (if I were you, simply bc it IS actually a psychological science & ppl attend higher education in order to practice and teach..), I'd personally be careful - put a disclaimer, saying that you are still learning & growing & figuring it out and you hope everyone will join you on your journey. But, that you def might make mistakes, and that's totally okay!! Everyone can grow together 😘💜

“Animals in their habitat, doing their animal thing!” 😂❤️😂❤️ 💀 I never walked and meditated before, but I am sure going to do it now. I can’t wait for the warmer weather to be able to walk barefoot and feel more connected with the earth. I walk daily around what we call the “loop” in my small lil hometown here in Cape Breton NS, and it’s about 3 km, I like to do it twice...sometimes I even challenge myself to walk a pole length and run a pole length (yes our poles are above ground here...us Cape Bretoner’s are stuck in old times what can I say haha) love these videos, keep me coming...so very inspiring! ✌🏼❤️😁

I've been taught walking meditation in Buddhist's way I guess it a little different from your way 'cause we focus only on our steps (basically watch our feet and the path while walking, nothing else) and breath It's the more like a shallow version of sitting medition and given the different benefits. :D
@BareBohemianBeauty5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I just left a comment about this. What's she's describing is a mindfulness walk.. Super beneficial & incredible and I practice constantly (well, as much as is humanly possible lol), BUUUUT it's not the same as meditation. The walking meditation I've done is barefoot and focusing on how our feet super slowly touch the ground, one directly in front of the other, and that's the focus, rather than breath or whatever one chooses to use. People don't seem to understand that mindfulness & meditation work together but are 2 separate things. But we need them both! Society is becoming so saturated with the two that it's all coming in so fast in the form of books and classes and videos and such that the average person doesn't have the chance to absorb what it all really is and the background and why it's so great & important. But that is TOTALLY jmo. How I see it 😉

Watch Kim Eng. Just sub to Eckhart Tolle's channel & he has her on there (it's his wife). If you want to meditate, follow along with an expert. I've done a livestream one w her and it was incredible!! But yeah, I've been meditating for around a decade, maybe a bit longer, every day, & have taken years of classes of group meditation + I just went to school for it (well, mindfulness, but we meditated, also, & I was taught by Eckhart & Kim) & I STILL would not totally trust myself to put out a video bc I know there are ppl who are better and more experienced. And I don't want to steer anyone wrong in any way. Bc we're always learning & can def make mistakes... I mean, I COULD do it and it would probably actually be good bc mindfulness coaching is my thing, but it's a risk if it's not just one on one. And it's nothing against kalyn, I love her to death!! She's just too inexperienced, so I say go straight for the best. And it's free so that's even better!😘

Where is the best place you've ever taken a walk? I can't even pinpoint it to one specific place. I loved hiking (if that counts) in the Rockies a few years ago and I loved a hike I did in April in Austria because my dad was with me and it was a great opportunity to talk to him for hours. Because of that I also love taking walks with my boyfriend. So, I guess it's not so much about the place I'm walking in, but the people I'm with ❤

You could try "create" a destination every time. Like go to the grocery store even if you don't want to buy anything, go to a bookstore, or even to places where you feel like you wanna do something, for example to a garden or park where you can find a specific flower... Start from this. Or of course take someone with you when you go for walks, if you're too scared or anything.❤ Start with small walks, like 15 minutes and later on go for longer walks and to places you don't usually go, but still consider safe. Hope I helped!
