I unlocked this skill like at the day 4th of starting to jump rope and i wanna share my experience. Only swing the rope once and let the rope do the momentum, don't try to swing twice to get 1 double under. Try this rhythm, 2 normal jump + 1 high jump, when doing the high jump, swing the rope only once with your wrists with more power than normal. If you trip your rope, do it again. 2 normal + 1 high jump

Great video guys! One thing Brandon said toward the end is one of the most important. I want to emphasize it just in case you missed it. If you're just beginning to work on double unders add it in as a 5 minute practice at the end of your training session. This way it'll cut down on the frustration. Also, don't try and string multiples together at the start. If you hit a double then STOP. Regroup and do it again. Try for a rhythm like single, single, single, DOUBLE. Once you get better you can start reducing the single jumps and eventually you'll want to try and string them together. I've gotten proficient at these over the past 6 mos where I can now add them in to a training session if it calls for DUs. But it was VERY frustrating to get to the point where I could. Don't give up! Consistent practice over time is key. Good luck!

I finally landed a few double unders tonight. What really made things "click" was trying to duplicate the sound a double under makes in the video. Once I had the rope making a "swoosh-swoosh-swoosh-swoosh" the rest just fell into place. Thanks for this Dudes.

Get this my dudes, you've seen me post here and there on your videos and I felt like sharing my routine: every morning I do 15mins of kettlebell swings and snatches in intervals of 45/15s. Then 4 nights a week I will do kb 5x5x5s (where the 5 exercises are picked using a list and random # generator) - the 5x5x5's must be completed in 15mins (insane HIIT), then I rest for 5mins. After that it's skipping for 15mins also 45/15s split. Then a 5min rest again, and some more kb swings & snatches for 15min using the same split. Then to end it off I go for a 2km jog (at a 7min/km pace). All in all the evening routine takes about 90mins but it's power. Oh - I also do a 20/4 IF split (I've had one meal a day basically my entire life, but with my cardio I need some fuel in the tank or I'm running on empty half way through). Regards from your zen friend in South Africa (I will post transformation pics in 6months or so)

Oh just to add to this - I am eating clean, and cut out sugar and preservatives. Ironically, I used to run half marathons and train provincial level tennis, and drank every night and ate take aways and had a body fat of less than 10% but within 2months of stopping that high level training I gained massive weight and in the course of a year I gained 70 pounds! But I am back on track now and feeling great. I'm glad I introduced skipping into my routine a month ago :)

Hey JRD! I’ve been doing CrossFit for almost 7 years but I took almost a year off a few years ago. I injured my Achilles’ tendon while doing double unders my first few months back and wanted to see if y’all had any advice for being able to start jumping rope again? I love jump rope and I’ve let it heal by stopping jump rope and running for about 5 months. Now I’m getting back into it and it hurts only when I do 100s of DUs. I miss being able to just do a work out with DUs only. Any advice? 😭

hi, which weight is the rope u r usin' in this vid? I do crossfit and and like many crossfitters I can't master the DUs. Greetings from Mexico
@JumpRopeDudes6 жыл бұрын
RatselJames - using a quarter a 1/2 pound rope will allow you to FEEL the rope. When you don't skip a lot and at your box, they're like "oh you don't jump rope?? Just grab this wire and do doubles..." PFFFT. Get something heavy! Grab the JRD rope so you can FEEL what you are doing. You don't need a fast, cable speed rope until you are master.
@RatselJames6 жыл бұрын
thanks for the kind answer, I'm deciding if just buy the JRD get lean set or go for the get fit bundle. I´m curious about the heavy ropes and include them in my morning routine. should I go for the whole pack? I love ur channel awesome work
@JumpRopeDudes6 жыл бұрын
RatselJames - as someone who used to crossfit, I think that EVERYONE would benefit from using a 1 pound rope instead of subbing doubles with 3X jumps... Heavy ropes really engage those muscles. They make you get stronger and build stamina. They are awesome. If you can only get one kit, grab the get lean set (1/4 and half). If you can manage the whole bundle, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED, but you'll see comments in here... those 1 and 2 pound ropes are NO JOKE! They are heavy!

Zen Dude Fitness Just watched your video alongside researching my headache problem and now I understand. Exercise headache which a few people seem to suffer from, main cause from the Internet boards and your prevention video seem to both link to being completely inactive without daily/consistent cardio and then suddenly start to just use the jump rope for 20 minutes straight, nothing else, no rest and going too fast skipping. I'm going to incorporate neck stretching and your warmups and gradual buildup of workouts once I'm back. Thanks for the help 💪
