it's the rhythm and that part is just practice

at around 5:40 on the counting thing - to slow it down go to "1 and 2 and 1 and 2". It's how dancers add the half beat in to their counts. This way you aren't necessarily slowing down your count, you're just adding a consistent pause between the counts. Also, get a metronome app on your phone. It'll give you a consistent beat to jump to without blocking the sound of the rope the way music will.

@@jlfelber1 not really, I started with 60 bpm and quickly moved to 90 which is a comfortable place for me. Just play with it and you’ll find a beat that works for you.

I’m north of 50 years old and experienced wrist pain while performing DUs with the quarter pound rope. I switched to a speed rope and haven’t experienced any pain since. Hope this helps someone.

One more tip that really helped me finally nail this move down is the timing issue: jumping a second before the rope hits the ground, not when you start swinging it. This gives you enough time to stay up in the air as the rope swings twice under your feet 💪💪💪

I've been struggling with DUs forever. I can get 5 pretty sorta consistently, but for whatever reason I can't seem to just pickup the rope and belt out any number of DUs. Really frustrating.

The way I learned double unders was strange. I couldn't do more than 1 for months no matter how hard I swung the rope or how high I jumped. Then one day I used like all my muscles to do it and it was the first time I got more than 1. Still remember how my chest, abs, and even butt muscles got a tight feeling while doing it. So for me it is not just the wrists and the high jumps that contribute to my double unders. It's a lot more than that. And now after a long while I still feel the first two or three jumps the most difficult although the movements have felt a lot more natural. After that I have the momentum and I'm able to continue until I'm tired.

what app do u use to count jumps? i have a garmin instinct 1 watch. my goal is to lose weight. my traininģ is 3 sets 10min jumping and 2min break. is this good? 3-4times a week thanks

Anyone else struggle with shin splints? I used to box in my twenties and skip for 20 mons for a warm up. Not 10 seconds into skipping shins hurt

I promise you jumping rope and bodyweight exercises are excellent ways to get lean and toned (if you eat properly) and you won't get bulky. It's a myth that lifting weight or exercise makes you bulky, your body type is mostly genetic. hope this helps!
