Yeah I have both xbox x and ps5 Xbox easily and consistently gets 260+ Ps5 consistently gets about 25 But switching to 5 GH got me to 100. Witcher update went from 1 hour 20 minutes to 10 minutes. 10 gb update. Thank you. Xbox gives me the option to choose 2.6 or 5 wifi adress. Ps5 only shows the wifi name and you have to go to network setting to manually switch to 5 g.

He really doesn't though. He unironically believes that spending more money on faster speeds actually changes anything. Sony isn't going to allow their servers to send information at 1 gig speeds, the ps5 can't process that info that fast, and no matter what your router, modem, and cables say they can do, there's going to be a lot of variables the disrupt downloads. It is never worth paying for anything above 300 mbps unless you have a massive family or run a server.

If you have a PS5 on your network, you certainly have additional devices connected to the internet. What happens when you’re browsing your phone, downloading a large file to your PC, and also downloading an update file to your PS5 all at the same time? Unless you give your network a specific configuration, you’re likely not going to be taking full advantage of your download speeds on your PS5. Are people really trying to sway others to not upgrade their internet in 2023? What a strange take

Where i live, there is a single company that handles the broadband / landline phone network, there are multiple providers you can go with, but they all use the network from this other company We recently switched provider (we upgraded from the slowest connection available in the area to one that is not quite the fastest available in the area at the moment, at some point in the next few years, an even faster connection will become available) I did a speed test before and after the switch, before the switch we were getting 7.2Mbps down and 0.64Mbps up (standard non fibre ADSL connection), after the switch we are getting 51.38Mbps down, and 9.35Mbps up (FTTC)

PSN realistically only gives you 100Mbps when you're actually downloading a game. My fiber connection means nothing when downloading games from Playstation. It's one thing that Playstation STILL doesn't *get* in 2023. Xbox however gets much better speeds(usually get between 600-800Mbps). They both need to learn from Steam.

Anyone in the UK (depending on the coverage in your area) I'd recommend getting a 5G router. They run on mobile data, much better than what you get through broadband and for fractions of the price. Example, if I go with SKY fiber and get 60mbs it would cost about £50 p/m. But if I go with '3' 5G I get 100mbs+ for £20 p/m. No brainer. And it works as it should for gaming, my ping is never more that 30, usually around 20, which for running from a sim card is good.

I got a feeling my cable modem where you plug the cable in moves by itself and that’s what’s causing the changing speeds all the time I go from 40 mbps to 4 mbps it’s weird try all of these out and it only increase very slightly where in the past if I use certain ones I’d get like double the speed think I need a new modem time to call the cable guy lol just tried downloading a 155gb game and normally takes 10 minutes tops now it took 40 I know first world problems lol but for the money we’re paying this shouldn’t be a issue hopefully it will work normal again once I get a new modem
