finally a video that ACTUALLY explains the subtle shapes and lines of the face at EACH step. Thanks you for this video! I was struggling with a 3/4 view and this video not only showed how to add realism to a manga face but went in depth on the 3/4 view.

Semi-realistic anime is my goal to get at in the art field. I know I have to first practice both anime and realism styles, but when I finally get comfortable with them I will do this ^^ Thanks Mr. Crilley. You're my inspiration to get serious with my artworks :)

Mr. Crilley. You are an amazing artist and a man with strong passion. No one understands that your goofy jokes is your imagination bringing life into the characters you create and, apparently, not everyone appreciates the fact that you take time out of your day to put videos up to help others. I haven't drawn in years and your videos have revived my interest in art. Thank you.

It annoys me when someone comments something really stupid on a video because it makes the top comments become related to whatever that one person has said, whereas I think that a video of this quality deserves to have top comments about how amazing the talent here is and that we really appreciate the production of these tutorials, keep up the good work!:)

mark crilley: take ordinary, simple line art and crank it into some of the most beautiful pencil work of all time. I also like that though, it really reinforces that the line art laid down correctly is the most important part. The closer lines are 1 cm apart from each other and the distance of the farther ones is 2,3 cm. The lenght of the longest lines is ±11 cm. I got this from pausing the video at 0:26 where you can see the ruler and i compared it to mine - the is just slight difference (~1mm). Hope that it helped.

Hi, Mr. Crilley! Your work is amazing! You are such an inspiration to beginning artists and artists who are looking to widen their skills. Your realism videos (such as the realistic eye one) really helped me when working with realism. Your first Mastering Manga book is really helpful as well, and I may buy the second book soon. You should make more Realistic Manga videos like this one. I love this style and I'd love to learn how to draw it. Thank you for continuing to make these videos! The eyes start in the middle of the head, most people put them too high. Between the eyes is a distance of one eye. The mouth is also about one eye wide, also the nose is one eye at the widest part. Height measurements are also measured in eyes. Eyebrows are about three eyes from the top and one eye down from that is the center line for the actual eyes. From that line, another 3 eyes is the bottom of the nose and one more to get the center of the mouth. Ears are 3 eyes high too
