I really love your channel, you have helped me a lot, I still need to get motivated to keep a beautiful clean house. So many people just cannot afford these expensive clothes, nor should we spend these ridiculous amounts of money on clothing when there are other family needs. Finding more budget friendly dresses I think would help those just starting to wear them more often not feel bad about wearing them doing various activities too. It's not necessary to spend a fortune to look like a million! My front yard has been so fun to walk through each day as the roses are still lovely. Being 26 weeks pregnant, I'm mostly living in dresses right now. To make them warmer I usually layer a knit skirt underneath, plus some knee socks and/or tights (just larger sizes, not always maternity). It helps me feel prettier, even when I'm starting to feel so big.

I felt the same about mine and you’re right, sometimes certain Ross stores don’t have as nice of a selection. I travel to different ones and sometimes the one near me surprises me with a good find. It’s hit and miss so I frequent them and especially during the season changes when they get an influx of new items. It can take some patience and searching for sure. I personally feel the way they organize their clothing is the worst for selling it. Nothing looks appealing crammed together with all different colors. A little merchandising would help the dress section especially.

Hi Laura, I turned 41 earlier this month and I am definitely struggling with having a more mature, feminine style and trying to figure out what that looks like for me personally. I live by the water in Florida where it is very casual but I am desiring a more refined and tasteful style and I definitley know it when I see it in other women. I also feel a different response from total strangers and in the way I carry myself when I put effort into my appearance. These are some ideas that I have gathered over the last few years. I do not think it is necessary at all to have an androgynous style as we age. Even if you are not wearing a skirt or dress, we can express our femininity in very simple ways. You know when there is a recipe and it says you should have all of the ingredients in your pantry? I think these are some things that all of us women have "in our pantry" and can easily access and practice -manicured or well cared for nails -make a little effort with our hairstyle - minimal makeup that makes us look fresh and alive, but not overdone -simple beautiful jewelry -the colors you choose to wear -lace/ruching/pintuck details -define your waist -good posture - the way you carry yourself, speak to, and care for others. I also look to pintrest for ideas on fashion over 40 or people whose style looks put together but not overdone. With the climate and atmosphere where I live and the activities I enjoy- I don't feel comfortable dressing like I would for church every single day of the week. But I also don't just want to wear shorts and a t-shirt - that seems too casual. I really like Joanna Gaines' style because to me she looks feminine and put together but still earthy and accessible. I would encourage you to find pictures of styles or colors you are drawn to. Jennifer from The Daily Connoisseur suggests thinking of a few words that would describe your style and use them as a jumping off point for curating your wardrobe. The next time you see a woman in the grocery store whose style you are drawn to, take note of what it is about her that is catching your eye and see if you might like to apply it the next time you get ready. Side note- A lot of times we may admire the way someone presents themselves but when we try it, it doesn't feel right. I've realized that "preppy" and "classic" just feel too structured; big frills and sparkle feel over the top- even when that looks just right on someone else- so I stay away from purchasing that type of clothing because I know I won't reach for those styles. The beautiful thing is that we are all so unique and express our femininity and style in different ways. Experiment with what you already own, along with thrift store or affordable retailers until you piece together items that make you feel and look your best and the most like "you"! Good luck- it is definitely a process but it is worth it!

Thank you for your kind words Laura. A woman should most definitely have a feminine style over 40 and not feel the need to result to androgynous dressing. That would take away from her beauty and what makes her, her. With that being said, feminine style looks different depending on the woman and the way she lives her life. May it never be concluded that what I showcase in my videos is the only form of feminine dressing, it's simply my style in the moment. My style has evolved over the years. There are things I wouldn't wear again that I was just wearing this past summer. I'm still figuring out what makes me feel comfortable. Stacy offered some great advice which I hope you can gain from🌹

A woman has to be savvier than ever when shopping. I no longer will pay full price when the fabric is “cheap.” For me, the QUALITY of the fabric is of prime consideration. Over the years, the particular companies that I was loyal to have been a disappointment. They have surrendered to fast fashion and their material is no longer good quality. Thus, clothes do not last very many years. Nor do mothers save money by having hand me downs. History contains stories of how women adapted to fashion by altering what they already had. In the pasty I didn’t have the need to buy a camisole to wear under a white cotton shirt. The quality of the cotton offset the need. Cotton now has the sheerness and lightweight of synthetics. I have not shopped at Ross’s. Thanks for the tip! Also, thank you for continuing to encourage femininity . We CAN look lovely and be comfortable in our clothing. Best wishes

Absolutely not, I simply feel dressed. When I look around, I mainly see what Jordan Peterson said, "a bunch of overgrown 10 year olds". It looks as though most adults never grew up, walking around like they just rolled out of bed in their pajamas, house slippers or t-shirts and skin tight leggings that show everything. It's my wish for people to open their eyes to what they really look like and learn that they could look fantastic no matter their size if they just put in a little effort. Many are uncomfortable to not look like everyone else though so when I walk around in public, I hope it inspires them to step outside of today's social norm and see daily dressing differently.

I would focus on thicker fabrics, a beautiful silhouette of a coat with layers of fleece tights and boots, scarves, gloves, things like that. We don’t really get snow so I haven’t the need to fill my wardrobe with such things. As I eventually focus more on travel, I’d like to expand my wardrobe to include these things.
