It’s not necessary to be in shape though. At least not in the sense of being at peak physical condition. A well made suit or jacket can flatter anyone with broad shoulders. (Like me, and I am not exactly what you would call active…)

My best tips for dressing well are: 1) Get in shape 2) Buy few but good quality clothes 3) Play with combinations that fit your style, show who you are. 4) Be comfortable and confident with what you are dressing. Without this, you won't look nice, just tidy.

#2 is so right on. You can mix and match so you don't wear the same thing over and over. As far as I'm concerned, White Shirts are a Must especially for a Job Interview. Then use Black, Blue, Pink, Beige and even Purple. Have a Cardigan, have Ties that aren't "Loud", and a couple of Jackets and you are on your way.

Thanks so much for your compliment. Where I work, it's Casual but everyone dresses properly. Folks wear Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, or even Ralph Lauren but it's proper.

and while that may be the case I don't think it takes him any longer to put all that on than it does for a slob to put on jeans, tshirt, hoodie and sneakers. and if the suit is fully tailored like you say he will be just as comfortable as the slob while looking a million times better. hate the notion that a suit jacket suddenly makes you "overdressed" and "too serious" and can only be worn for special occasions.

Here is how I define if somebody has the right style: You have found the right style if what you are wearing doesn't tell yourself or others that you are dressed up.
