What he saying about not stomping the pedal when you initiate a drift is absolutely true not only here in a set of Corsa, but in real life as well. Your engine doesn’t make the most amount of torque at red line. It makes it somewhere before usually where the horsepower and torque on the power band graph. What you’re trying to do when maintaining a drift is keep your car somewhere just before or within that power band so that you’re making the most amount of torque while keeping Control. This will also help with weight transfer and what not.

Nicely done tutorial, nice and simple for beginners. Love your delivery, editing and explanations. Would love to see some more progressive-advanced drifting tutorials, youtube still lacking in them. Things like how to deal with understeer when drifting downhill touges, how to pick good lines, or how to handle higher hp/twitchy cars (or even comp cars, though I think that's more advanced than intermediate)
@ogfent Жыл бұрын
Thank you man, appreciate the feedback on that! I will bare that all in mind for a future video, they are all great ideas. I think I might need a bit more experience in the cars / tracks first but 100% will get this done 🙏
@thesprawl2361 Жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about doing a more advanced tutorial myself. Not because I'm amazing, but just because there is _nothing_ out there that deals with more advanced stuff. I've searched and found nothing. Things like left-foot braking; how to drift long, shallow corners; drifting lines; left foot brake reverse entries in tight touges; quickly adjusting angle mid-drift with the handbrake, etc. And yes, understeer when going downhill/oversteer when going uphill - or just the way that elevation changes in general can massively increase the difficulty of a course/touge and your line through it. I'm no good at video editing so I doubt I'll get around to it, but I feel like it's a gap in the YT video market.
@stickybuds05 Жыл бұрын
@@thesprawl2361 exactly those things, yes! It's like basic tutorials can get you pretty far, at least to satisfying runs, but comes to a certain point you're on your own. I'd be first in line to watch if you upload tho, even if it's just a run with some narration/subtitles
@thesprawl2361 Жыл бұрын
@@stickybuds05 Cool to hear. I'd be up for uploading myself drifting certain areas that personally give me trouble in certain(usually very high power, very grippy) cars, like the first corner on Akina Lake, and then talking about possible solutions. But IDK how many people are even interested. I go online and the only thing people seem to have bothered learning is shaky 360 entries to corners. They can't hold a long, shallow drift, they can't left foot brake and control angle...but they can do 360 entries. I get the feeling that people are interested in the bare bones stuff...and the stuff that looks flashy. The rest, the subtle, advanced stuff is interesting only to a small number of us.
@throttle_mx4061 Жыл бұрын
the best tip no one ever talks about is lowering your steering angle, sounds counter productive i know, but if you have a wheel with a slower rotation speed and you struggle with countersteering fast enough then lowering the steering angle will make it so the car needs much less input to steer, i keep mine at 360 for drifting and rally respectively

Im on my second day of drifting (like 5 hours in total).. i can initiate, catch.. but i have a lot of problems to understand how much gas give.. cause everytime i end in two ways: a little of gas, the car gets traction goes to the other way and spin. Or i give too much gas and i spin. Also sometimes i just randomly drift for a lot but i don't understand how (just a long drift not transitions) and in the moment i realize im drifting i somehow go down or up with RPMs and spin 😂

Thanks for the tutorial! I've been watching many guides to get into drifting, but i always find myself struggling with the same issue: whenever i try to drift feels like my car is desperately trying to go straight, if i manage to drift in a circle as soon as i try to transition to the opposite direction and lift the throttle just a little bit the car LAUNCHES to the other side, the steering goes at full speed to the opposite side and i spin out even at very low FFB%. It's like there's some sort of assist turned on that prevents the car to slide freely despite having traction and stability control off..
@ogfent Жыл бұрын
hey man, you're welcome! I would first of all check in your pre race screen assists. If you click on the three small dots next to your assist selection you can change it all in there.
