In this video I demonstrate the process of drilling a hole through vinyl siding in a way that avoids damaging, tearing, or ripping, the siding. This can be done on other types of siding as well.

Cool vid. Learned a lot. Getting ideas but to drill a hole in soffit,. (BTW the opposite of pigeon-toed is bow-legged.). Thank you for posting.

You can actually run either way no problem, but it's easier to cut vinyl with reverse teeth since it melts instead of chews, same reason we reverse our blades on our table saw when cutting soffit sections. Also a tip, when using a hole saw in reverse it acts like a flywheel and can potentially unchuck from the drill when you let go of the trigger so always re tighten when doing multiple holes

Excellent tip, Thank you. Odd this never occurred to me before as I frequently run drill bits in reverse when making countersink holes for flat head wood screws.

Great idea for countersinking for screw heads! I hadn't thought of that and could have used that the other day! Next time I'll be ready.

Valuable pro tip, I hadn't heard that one before. I know I've mangled vinyl siding before. Spade bit are the worst. lol

Benjamin, like your videos, however you might want to update your electrical advice on circuits for gas ranges. As the last few yrs like our convection requires dedicated 20amp circuit by manufacturer. Just like microwaves

great tip, thanks. You might think about wearing eye protection when doing this due to the small pieces of vinyl flying around.

Find a metal pipe the size of the hole you need and heat with a propane torch and melt hole through siding then just hole saw the rest of the way

I just run my hole saw backwards so the teeth don't grab the plastic.

Yeah, it also cuts faster in reverse then it does in forwards, works either way but reverse is much safer
