I just saw a test of dry versus wet in a crush test and the dry just crumbled under the pressure test versus the wet pour which took tons more of pressure to crack it.
@whitepilled22Күн бұрын
I've seen that video, but in what situation is somebody putting their slab under those conditions. Also his tests didn't have rebar.
@dmadere1Күн бұрын
@ well a load bearing post that supports a roof with a high wind load! Etc etc that focus high weight pressure in a small area of the slab! And when you can take your concrete and crumble it with your hands that can’t be good. I’m a contractor and would never in any case pour a dry vs wet slab. Nor would you find an engineer that would endorse doing that. I have no hate! It’s just chemistry!
@whitepilled22Күн бұрын
@@dmadere1 I wouldn't do a dry pour myself either, but their slab is not going to crumble by touching it. I personally would get a little mixer and slowly fill the slab little by little.
@CurtisTower-kv1bf2 күн бұрын
I REALLY would recommend wearing a mask when moving that dry concrete around...you don't want to breathe in that silica dust. It's a major issue for those who work around concrete dust on a regular basis. Otherwise, I'm loving watching this!

Agree, my husband worked road construction for 35 years breathing in all of those materials. Just as I retired and we'd dreamed of seeing the world, he developed lung cancer and left me. Most of his co-workers went the same way. 😢

These dry pours are so much harder /dirtier/more expensive and take way to long . People dont listen to the lies these dry pour people tell just call a truck ... add water so it self leveling and screed it off and done in a hour vs this BS in video.
@carolsisti7203Күн бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Definitely wear a mask; silica is not good for the lungs.

If you do another one, use the edge tool while it is wet, not dry. Also, cover it with plastic. Holding the water in as long as possible will give you a stronger slab. Leave it covered for a week or so if you have the time. Concrete develops its strength over a three-week period, and the slower it dries out, the better.
@timhillan54872 күн бұрын
I'm glad that I live in Australia never seen concrete done like that in my life I'm concreter by trade 39year that would kill you how much did it cost for all the bags of concrete and how much for a yard of ready-mix concrete

Won't the dirt start settling over time and cement cracks? Maybe put gravel over dirt before cement? Just wondering.
@Jman5312 күн бұрын
Hopefully this holds up, but you wet this lightly for several hours, then do more light spray and let it set for about 48 hours to set up well before moving the forms. Hopefully you don't have any problems.

Not a fan of dry pour. It's tensile strength is much, much less than wet pour. For maximum strength when dry pouring, wetting the substrate well is recommended. Also curing takes much longer. I know this advice is a bit late. Not every dry pour fails, and I wish you well with this one

It’s not Danielle, it’s watching Jason over and over babbling about nothing. People can preach and talk and in reality they are just filling in time for putting out videos. YT is a platform to show others who you are and Jason has shown through 6 years of videos that he does not finish anything. THAT’s why viewers leave negative comments. It’s not hate, it’s hoping he will wake up and shut up.

I would get excited about this concrete slab if I thought it was for you building y’all a nice home or rustic cabin. But, unless I’m wrong, you are going to move that senseless silo on it to use for a home. Do you realize the cost to convert this huge thing, with lots of height, not mentioning the cost of wiring and plumbing, cooling and heating the space inside. The first OK tornado that often brings destructions will take that silo and set it down in an Arkansas field, where silos should be. Make me wrong, Jason!!
