How to Dye a Lace Front Wig WITHOUT dying the lace! - Cosplay Wig Tutorial

In this video we will show you how to dye a synthetic lace front wig without dying or damaging the lace!
This method uses synthetic dye and alcohol based markers to dye the wig.

- 2 x Packs of White Wefts by Arda Wigs
- Purple, Pink and Red Rit Dyemore Synthetic Dye
- Peony & Cardinal Copic Markers

Do I have to re-dye the wig after washing it or does the dye remain?

Thank you so much for the tutorial this is a great idea! I do believe that if you had those bangs in your face instead of glued back for jessie, though, you'd get that alcohol bleeding onto your face so keep that in mind too!

QUESTION! Can the root area of the wig be soaked in water first to ensure the dye will bleed into the roots more? Or will that also stain the lace??

I plan to dye a wig for the first time and I'm a bit nervous. I'm trying to get a gradient look for my Alastor wig. Would you happen to have some tips to get the back of a wig to get more dye then the top parts?

Do you have any advice on how to dye just the lace part? I always use my wigs with very pale makeup (because they're all vampires), and it clashes with the lace. Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't have a way to dye the lace itself! But you could try apple a little makeup to the lace to help lighten it I think :) some lace also comes in very light colours too.

the copic marker is a good tip, I used sharpie on a wig and the color would get onto my hand anytime I touched it

Great tipp but obe question do i need an old Pot i don't use for cooking anymore or can i simply use a normal one and still use it for cooking food next time?

you don't want to use any pots or containers you will use for food to dye things. the dye can stain and stick to them so when you use it for food, you're eating the dye which is bad for you. hope that helps!

Hi there. I didn't research before starting a craft and wasted 30 dollars of artic fox hair dye trying to color match my hair to my extensions. Could this work with dying a baby pink wig lacefront to have navy streaks (actually, mostly navy with pink streaks)? I'm not sure if I should tie together the bits I want to remain pink and lower it like you did with the Jessie wig or not 😔 I hope this makes sense

Quick question why is it a big deal if the lace gets dyed and also what is the difference between lace wigs and normal ones

The lace is what gets trimmed and glued down on the hairline to give the illusion of real hair growing from the scalp. It's made to blend in with natural skin. Dyeing the lace would cause you to have a solid hairline. Lace front wigs are more expensive because they look more realistic. If you don't care about having a solid hairline, buy a hard front wig.
