Brilliant idea, thanks. I would offer an add-on suggestion. When I shook the bottle, it would leak out in my hand where the chain came out. I solved that by tying a 10" piece of fishing line (or strong thread) to the end and let that hang out the top instead of the chain. Now I could tightly close the bottle with either a cork or screw on cap. An added benefit was that the chain seemed more free and easier to shake into harder to reach areas. The base idea here, though is about the most helpful idea I have ever come across. Thank you, again... and again ...

Yes, I've used chainmail on cast iron also. It works great on glass. I don't shake very hard, in fact I prefer to swirl which is very useful when cleaning glass bottles.

When I seen this video, I immediately bought a chain to clean my bottles out with. then proceeded to tell people about the new idea I discovered from this video and everyone I know pretty much told me it was stupid why didn't I just buy a bottle brush... I'm not sure if I did not do it right or maybe I wasn't able to put as much effort into it because because the way everyone shot the idea down but mine still had a little soy milk on the side of the bottle after shaking the hell out of it...

You might need to let it soak for a bit with soapy water and then make sure your shaking makes the chain go across the dirty sections of the bottle.
