That's how I've always done it except I also peel off the skin as I don't like the fuzz or buy nectarines. They're so good they're worth it!

After the first "around the world" cut (is there a concise term for circumferential incision...? nevermind) you can twist the halves apart cleanly (the same way you'd separate avocado halves). The stone will remain with one of the halves, and can be freed by your demonstrated method. Both methods work on any stonefruit. (Bear in mind, "clingstone" fruits will be messy no matter what you do.)

The single 360 cut (there's your concise term :) ) doesn't always work - it requires a more perfectly ripe peach. This method is more robust.

maybe the peaches I usually buy are overripe... because I end up covered in juice with mushy peach pieces that really stick to the pit. but thanks for making the video. I'll give it another go. the mess factor is the reason I don't buy peaches more often!
