You're right. I'm one of those people who was discouraged from pomegranates after watching others make it look so difficult to peel and eat them. Your video addressed every one of my questions, and I've already benefited from it and enjoyed my first pomegranate! THANK YOU! This is the best video I have ever seen on pomegranates. It's really informative and full of beneficial information. Thank you very much. A small tip: do not throw away the thin soft whitish membrane around the red arils as this is very nutritious(the soft skin, not the thick harder part). Thank you so much for the informative video. It is probably the first time that I watched one of your videos. Pomegranate is one of my 10 most favorite fruits. Berries of various kinds, olives, the orange sad family, and of course, avocados and cherries, apricots, and plums and guava and figs...my list of my favorite fruits is actually not limited to just 10, and I apologize to the ones I did not mentioned. When I was growing up in a landlocked country surrounded by snow-peaked mountains ... gigantic mountains and rivers were everywhere. But we also had plains parries and big chunks of desert. In the small village that I was born and grew up, everyone it seemed, had an orchard and a garden. Among the various varieties of pomegranates, three were most common: Tart, seedless, and very sweet. The main reason that I decided to comment on your informative video is actually is that when someone in the village regardless of their age and gender, was suffering from yellow jaundice, they were given the powder of the dried skin of pomegranate as home remedy. And amazingly, it often worked to treat and cure yellow jaundice. I have no doubt that any variety of pomegranate has medicinal qualities: crystals and skin all. Sultan.

Thank you for your nice feedback and comment. And yes, while it is a great fruit, it can be costly depending on where one lives, so I always recommend to do what is most feasible. Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed the video. And yes, unfortunately most imported fruits and vegetables are not picked at the right time, but premateurly, and have issues with ripening properly. It varies for the pomegranate, as it really depends on where one lives and how far the fruit must travel.

Hello Sylvia. That all depends on where you live. In general, in North America, whether Canada or the US, pomegranates are most available in stores in the late fall and winter months. In some stores, however, you may be able to find them year-round. Again, it all depends on where you live and how big and capable your grocery store is when it comes to importing various foods. I will buy 3 more at Trader Joe's so I can use one in a salad. Is it safe to eat the white part that separate the Pomegranate in 4 pieces?
@Healthytarian Жыл бұрын
Great to hear you are enjoying them! And yes, if you have some pieces of the white parts that separate the seeds that won't be a problem. Normally, you would not eat it on purpose, as it is not that appealing or desirable to eat, but when we peel the fruit to get the seeds, some of the white parts may be stuck to the seeds and hard to peel off and that is okay.

Thank you so much for your nice feedback, Cassie. And yes, absolutely, anytime you cannot get any fruit or vegetable in its organic form, you should still eat that particular fruit or vegetable in non-organic form, rather than avoid it all together. My way of juicing is to blend the fruit with water and drink everything ie I drink all the pulp and seeds (not the skin of the fruit). Juicing like this also helps me a lot because I love pomegranate but can't eat the seeds as they require excessive chewing and this destroys my tooth enamel and sensitises my gums. Juicing this way, I'm also not afraid of the fructose content :)

@Healthytarian6 жыл бұрын
From an optimal health perspective, not at all. Not only is dairy not an ideal food source for the human body, but fruit and dairy together are one of the worst food combinations for digestion. Dairy has been scientifically proven also to block the use and absorption of beneficial antioxidants, which all fruits, especially pomegranate are full of. (nutritionfacts.org/video/benefits-of-blueberries-for-blood-pressure-may-be-blocked-by-yogurt/) So for most benefit, eat your pomegranate, but definitely not with any dairy.
@heyitsPolllyyy2 жыл бұрын
you mentioned in the video that it can be sprinkled on a salad. Can it be added to a whole meal salad? I am confused as it is a fruit..just wonder if it will be a good food combination with beans and or legumes
@Healthytarian2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pavlina. With regard to adding fruits to other meals, it really depends on the person's overall health and state of their digestive health. For some people adding in some fruit, like a pomegranate will be okay, whereas for others it may cause digestive distress, like bloating or IBS-like symptoms. In general, fruits should be eaten on their own and not after main meals, but more so on an empty stomach. However, some fruits combine well enough with other ingredients for people to enjoy as part of varied meals. I personally would not recommend mixing fruits and beans, but if you are making a simple leafy green and watery-vegetable salad, then adding in some fruit like a pomegranate will normally work well.

@Healthytarian Жыл бұрын
Eating the fruit in its whole and raw form is the best way to go. As a diabetic, you should not be using any fruit juices. However, how pomegranate may impact your blood glucose levels, like any other food, needs to be considered in the context of how mild or far advanced your diabetes is. The best thing to do would be to take steps to reverse and heal your diabetes with a whole food, plant-based diet. Otherwise, you are bound to drugs and/or insulin and other health problems for life. If this is new information for you, please refer to the collection of research articles about healing diabetes via diet here: nutritionstudies.org/?s=diabetes

I've never had a pomergranate fruit. I would like to try it. I've had the pomergranate juice, in the plastic bottle, from the grocery store, thinking it was the same thing.
@Healthytarian5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the whole fruit is very different from the isolated and extracted juice. I hope you get to enjoy the fruit itself with its full spectrum of health and nutrition benefits.

Here in Thailand, I have several trees and I love eating the fruit, but the seeds are not chewable at all, as hard as rocks. They must be several different kinds.

Thank you for this lovely presentation Evita. I would so love you to know that the wonderful benefits of these and all other fruits that you so beautifully described, could never occur by the accident of 'mother nature', but by the amazing wisdom and knowledge of God, who created all these foods for us to enjoy and to keep us healthy. 😊

Moira Wood I was going to tell this woman that! Mother Nature didn’t created this fruit! Or no other fruit! I don’t Understand how people can not give God the credit for his creation! God supplies so much ! For human being to help us live! But yet some people believe that the big- bang created of all things! But I respect every one’s Choice on what they believe!

Why does my pomegranate juice nutrition label say nothing for vitamin C ?.. (from Costco).
@Healthytarian Жыл бұрын
Because it is a processed form of the food and like most store-bought juice of such a nature, it was pasterurized at high temperatures destroying the Vitamin C that it had, along with other nutrients. This is why whole natural and fresh forms of foods, especially for fruits and vegetables, are essential if we are interested in fueling our body with actual nutrition and supporting our health.

Excuse me, what happens to them during the rest of the year? In my area, they disappear. The one's that are in the stores seem old.
@Healthytarian2 жыл бұрын
Hi Theodore, fruit trees do not produce fruits all year round. That would be too draining. You can think of it similar to a woman being pregnant all the time. It would deplete the being completely. Therefore, everything in nature has its own cycles. There is a time to rest and a time to grow and a time to produce fruits, if it is a fruiting tree. So after the fruit ripens and is picked or falls off, the trees go into rest and recuperation mode, until the next fruiting season is possible.
@theodoreroberts34072 жыл бұрын
@@Healthytarian thank you for your explanation, the same could be said for lemons, apples and the like, they usually store some for when they're out of season so they are available all year long.

Are they soft? I do not have teeth and need something I can chew easily. Also, are there any other fruits or veggies that are equal to the nutrition in the pom? I am in an area where I have issue with getting them
@Healthytarian6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, pomegranates are NOT soft and will not work if you do not have teeth. If you cannot eat them, you do not have to look for a nutritional equivalent, as ALL fruits are extremely beneficial to our health, and the point is just to eat lots of them as part of a healthy diet, any of them that work for you and are most available in your area.

What is the best way to eat pomegranates, Eating seeds or making juice .
@Healthytarian5 жыл бұрын
Most definitely eating the arils (juicy flesh with the seeds). This is the only way that provides you with the whole food and all of the health and nutrition benefits. The juice is just an extract that isolates some aspects of the pomegranate and does not provide the full spectrum of benefits.
