This was an amazing video- learned so much. Easy and looks like I can definitely do this. Champagne and caviar dreams....

yup, easy and delicious. If buying the expensive caviar, buy some cheap supermarket one as well to compare. You'll appreciate the expensive one even more!

Hello Peter, I am so glad that I found your channel. I absolutely loved your video on Borscht. I am putting my grocery list together now to be delivered this afternoon. I have everything that I need lest the beets. Beets are now on my grocery list. :-) Regarding this video, I am so intrigued by caviar. I have only had it once many years ago and I'm quite sure in was the inepensive brand because I was not impressed. I do have an open palate so I believe the top shelve brands would for sure show me the difference. If the time comes that I can spend the money on it, I will let you know. Thank you again for your videos

Thank you so much for reaching out! If you do try the top shelf caviar, try some of the cheap supermarket caviar alongside, which will help you appreciate the differences. Good luck with the borscht, and can't wait to hear about your caviar experiences! 😊

I'm not a caviar expert by I am fairly intelligent, so here are some things that makes no sense here, the spoon, the off-taste comes from the oxidation that happens between the metal and the caviar, does not matter if it is the cheap or the expensive one, this chemical reaction happens in both, you might not care about it for the cheap one but the non-metalic spoon is required on both. Plastic spoons might be cheap but they don't react either so if your buying the cheap one, and only have plastic it is better than a metallic one. "It's no caviar it's a Roe" Roe = eggs and every caviar is a Roe, just not every Roe is Caviar... Caviar only applies to the fish roe in the sturgeon family. All other roes are not considered real caviar. End the last is that you should not chew your caviar.... well it is true if you are doing a tasting of the caviar solo, saying you teth does not have tasting buds is ridiculous because when you chew something the juices immediately enters in contact with the tongue, where all the tasting buds are of course, saying that you lose the flavor is simply wrong, again it might change the flavor completely because you will be tasting the juices of the caviar and not the egg pellicle, but if it is so bad you should not eat caviar with anything else because if you pair it with blini, crackers, and any other topping that are not creamy, you will need to chew and the caviar will be in that mix, so this is a myth and only applies to the correct way to do a tasting, not really eating it... pretty much like wine tasting vs actually drinking a wine...

Real caviar can be altered with salt and spices and in this condition it's can be preserved for weeks. In 1985 to 1986 my diet was primarily consistent of black caviar and I wish it's wasn't! It's not very healthy to eat it every day.

So you are saying i have to use a non metalic spoon when eating caviar but the next thing i see, you are taking out caviar out of metalic tin :DDD
@petersfoodadventures Жыл бұрын
that is correct - for the high end proper caviar you don't want to use a metal spoon. For the fake caviar cheap supermarket stuff, it makes no difference. :-)

there is something religious about taking out caviar from a tin can (whole or only with a tin lid) with a spoon made of "neutral" material :-)

The starry sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus), also known as the stellateReal caviar does not belong to Russia for centuries, it only belongs to Iran, because that fish only lives in the waters of the Caspian Sea of Iran, and the waters of this sea are on the Russian side, which is deep, and this fish lives in very deep water, exactly Russian caviar is not real caviar. Due to sanctions, you cannot have real caviar. sturgeon or sevruga .
