You can grow a new pineapple from the top! No need to throw it out! Just keep it in water until you get some roots and can plant it.

We love your videos! How would I feed myself on $15 per week: maybe 5lb bag of flour, yeast packets, 1lb rice, 1 lb dried beans, 1 lb dried lentils, 2 onions, bag of carrots, 18 eggs, 2 heads garlic, 1 can tomato paste, and 4 bananas. I would bake 3 loaves of bread (because no butter to make biscuits). Breakfast would be toast with 2 eggs or a banana. Lunch would be rice and beans OR lentil soup with scoop of rice in it. Dinner would be an egg sandwich with lentil soup. Or beans and rice. I love beans and rice, so I would fare pretty well.... I could even feed a few guests before the end of the week!

FYI, anytime you buy crushed cans, always ask for manager to give you a discount. I’ve never paid full price for a dented can. Walmart usually discounts their (store brands) dented or opened packages by 30-40%.

I grew up eating plantain chips, twice fried plantains with mayoketchup, mangu (mashed plantains) and mofongo (mashed plantains with bacon, fresh crushed garlic and seasonings). My mom would top the mofongo with stewed chicken. It's amazing. I make it once in a while and I always serve it with salad and avocado.

When I first got married in 1972 the Thoroughfare grocery store sold the extra long loaves of white bread for 10 loaves for one dollar. Heinz ketchup glass bottle was 15 cents. Now I go up to the check out with a small basket of 12 items and I have to call my bank for a loan to pay for it. I love these videos of yours. Thank you for sharing. Great job! 👍😀🌼

I always really love your videos because you show such diversity as opposed to other channels where it's always very simplistic or boring because they don't think outside the box. I might have done mildly something different I might have used the drippings from the first roasted chicken and saved it to make some soup with the pasta or possibly a gravy to give a richness to it so you could spread the chicken out a little further. Just little tweaks for my own taste but overall you are awesome with the way you do these videos and please keep making them. And by the way your new wig looks lovely

Depending on what sort of pineapple you get, some people have been able to plant the top in order to produce another pineapple. But I’ve read somewhere on the internet that some species of pineapples sold in store are bred so that you can’t do that. I don’t know. I guess you could try and see if you could grow your own pineapple from the tops that you cut off.

If you plant the top leafy part of the cut pineapple, it grows a shoot and grows another fruit. Your hair looks beautiful. I don't usually comment on peoples looks, but what woman doesn't like a hair compliment.😊 I was in my 40's before I ever bought a real pineapple! What a delightful difference from eating canned pineapple my whole life. I love to see your different food combinations that I have never seen.🙂

Wonderful information on Meal Planning on a great budget. Another idea: Blend in cucumber to cream cheese for a spread. Could add in a jar of pimentos to pasta salad. I love baked chicken too. Oh yum. Love Tamson 😇💗

hi. you use spices that are my favorite ones. I go through alot of onion powder, italian, and crushed pepper flakes. i've never had plantains. I should get one and cook it like you did. hope you have a good weekend.

* wanted to tell you I tried the plantain last night. I just bought one and cooked it like you did. i tried them in vegetable oil. maybe olive oil would be better but don't have any now. seasoned them with salt and some with Cajun spice. I forgot that you put chili powder on yours. I'm going to be honest I did not care for it much. tasted very bland to me. not horrible. just thought would taste better. this was my first time eating them. maybe will try again sometime. it only cost me .33¢. I'm glad I did give it a try. I took a photo. not sure if i can send it here. will try.

Hi Rhonda, glad to hear you tried them. I understand you didn't like them. They are definitely bland (like a potato) when they are green. I like to use them in place of fried potatoes. The most popular way to eat them is fried, then flattened, then fried again.

Love your recipes, especially the plantains! I’m Cuban and we eat plantains regularly. The way we cook ripe plantains is by double frying... see below or google “tostones”: Chop the pieces larger (so that they are about an inch and a half thick or so) and fry them for about 5 minutes on all sides. Then remove and place them on a paper towel lined plate. Use a plantain press (or a folded over paper towel and a cup) to press the plantain. It should be about 1/2 an inch thick. Fry the pressed plantains until they are golden all over.
