I love your mashed potato balls recipe! I receive lots of instant mashed potatoes and canned meat (beef, pork, chicken, tuna and salmon) in my food pantry hauls. I would substitute one of those canned meat/fish items for the ground turkey, season appropriately from my pantry, and wrap the mashed potatoes around that and then fry them. Thank you for a brilliant idea!

I loved that you did not have onions or peppers in this as I am allergic and cannot eat them. Instead of the cilantro I would have used frozen spinach or frozen green peas for 70cents at walMart. I loved the fact you used strawberries instead of bananas. Rice cereal or rice pudding is delicious. I would have chopped them up finer and covered in sugar to make a sauce of it and add to the cereal. Would have made it much more flavorful. Something you can use sometime is about 3 packages of crush ramen noodles with a can of chicken or tuna and a can of peas or mixed vegetables which is only 58 cents a can at Walmart. You can also make a soup with ramen noodles and a small can of chicken with mixed vegetables and seasoning packets from the ramen. If you have enough money add a 70 cent can of chopped mushrooms to it to fill up more. Thst would easily make a casserole and a pot of soup to last 7 days

A few videos ago, I left a comment about pantry items, and I can tell you have really taken that feedback to heart. I think it makes your challenge videos richer by pushing your creativity. In this video, the pantry items were pretty basic, like vegetable oil, shortening, salt pepper, a sprinkling each of sugar and garlic powder, a squirt of ketchup. More if you happen to have it, like some more spices, soy sauce and vanilla extract, but a person could absolutely make these dishes with just the bare basics. I also think it's good that you don't always get, for example, bananas. I love bananas, and they are one of the most affordable fresh fruits, but I have a sister who is allergic to them, and I'll bet some others are, too. It's good being able to offer options.

The turkey dumplings were really fun! I would eliminate the cilantro because I do not like it. I don't know if maybe I have that cilantro soap gene but unfortunately I just do not care for it. I’m glad to watch your cheap meals videos. While I have been enjoying the extra money on my food stamps card from the covid pandemic support, I’ve heard thru the grapevine that extra money will shortly be disappearing, so I’ll be going back to roughly $40 a month. I would have to sub out the cilantro, or coriander as we call it here in Australia. I’d probably sub it for basil, parsley or spring onion. I don’t know if I could eat the breakfast. That’s where I fall down on these challenges as I hate cooked cereals. It’s a texture thing. Typically, the cheapest breakfast I make is toast and vegemite. I started making this when I literally had to rely on the free packets of soy sauce and other condiments I could gather at really where ever I COULD. It is still a hard habit to break. Mayo, jelly, salad dressing, ranch cup..... I use them now for school lunches or work lunches. I thought you did great with this challenge. I appreciate the outside the box thinking. I was going to say, for people that deal with texture issues, like the cooked brown rice, that you can take it and put it in the blender before you cook it. Then you create like a cream of rice cereal. Thanks again for getting us to realize that even when things get expensive we can still eat well.

It’s funny, I can’t stand the texture of white rice, but love brown rice (that isn’t over cooked).

I really enjoy your video food challenges. It helps me think outside the box. I would like to tell you that a few years ago on the TV, there was a program explaining different things And I want you to know that the dehydrated potatoes in the box has the same nutritional information as real potatoes, keep using them

@@TheQuaintHousewife I want so badly to like cilantro because it's in so many things that look good but 🤢 I can only handle a tiny sprinkle of it in salsa or pico de gallo.

Love Cilantro great taste, What about... a bag of lentils that makes a whole pot you can eat all week. Or mash and put in tortilla. Also, bread, cereal, onions, carrots, red peppers, garlic? *Granulated sugar was not part of your grocery purchase?

I think its very realistic to get different stuff every time you do these challenges. Of course if you can fit it into the budget, you're gonna try to not eat oatmeal and bananas every single day. I like seeing what you can do with 10$ especially in these times. I love your mashed potato ball idea!

I have a challenge for you: $10 Must get- Carb Protein 2 vegetables 1 fruit Dairy Shop at 2 different stores for two challenges. Vegetables & fruit can be the same from both. Make for 5 days meals.

You will probably not be able to get fruit & dairy on $10. Eggs have shot up to $3 per dozen in my area, which only provides 72 grams of protein per dozen. Prices on dried beans have also shot up, $1.50 - $2.00 per pound, but sometimes you can still find a variety that is near $1.00 (I was able to get red beans this week for $0.99/lb (stocked up 5lbs). Dried beans have 9 - 13 servings per pound, 7 - 10 grams of protein per serving, they are also loaded with minerals, fiber, and some B-vitamins. For 2 vegetables, get 1lb dark green leafy vegetable (spinach, kale, collards, etc.) and 1lb deep orange (sweet potato, carrots), for highest vitamins & mineral content. Descending protein content in starch foods: wheat, oats, rice, potatoes, corn (corn is extremely low in nutrients, do not recommend on extreme budgets). Look for chicken leg quarters (you can make schmaltz from fat/skin, broth from bones) or chicken livers for animal protein.

I really enjoy and appreciate your videos, thank you so much! A sa single person, I use dry powdered milk, that way I only make enough for what I need in a meal, or for cereal or a protein shake- this is my #1 way to keep milk on hand and waste zero of it, ever. I'm also big into cabbage and lentils, these are super cheap and can turn into anything from salads to side dishes to soups!
