Haha, good timing! Make sure you always have the song playing back so you can sync the video files up with the master track. Enjoy the shoot! Feel free to send me the final product when it's done 😄🙌🏼

Great job! Here is one question nobody addressed so far: Why clips which used in multicam clip not being marked “used” in browser with that orange ribbon over them?
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Ай бұрын
I think FCP sees them as "new clips" or at least new instances of clips. Kind of how a compound clip is seen as a new clip even if the only thing inside is a raw clip.

What if I have multiple clips from the two audio sources. It always seems to sync on many lines and isn’t accurate.
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Ай бұрын
Select all of your audio files and assign them a Camera Name in the inspector window like I did with Cam A, Cam B, Cam C and Audio. That will keep all the audio files on one angle.

@@Brad_West oh okay. so if It is two different mics, would that mess up syncing?
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Ай бұрын
If it’s two different mics I would label everything from the first mic as Audio 1 and everything from the second mic as Audio 2. That will keep everything from each individual microphone on its own independent angle, but will still sync all of them together. 😄👍🏼

stablizer tick work after converting to Multicam clip?
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Ай бұрын
If you need to stabilize inside a mutlicam clip, you have to open up the multicam clip and stabilize the clip directly.

Some good tips Brad. One problem/question. When you try to colour grade, as soon as I move my cursor off the clip in the multicam clip (after I've doubled to expand all the angles) it defaults to the top/first clip, so I can't see what I'm trying to colour grade. Please advise.

You just need to click on the monitor icon on the track you want to see in the viewer 😄👍🏼 The monitor icon is the little screen on the top left corner of every track.

Hello, first off thanks for another great tutorial. I have a specific ongoing problem with multicam editing that I am hoping you might be able to answer. I apologize for the long-winded question: I edit gym videos. We shoot with 2 cameras, and separate audio recording. When the trainers make mistakes, they need to start over and the music must still match perfectly with their movements because the entire training is synced to the beat of the music. I have not been able to find a reliable way to add the second "take"of the video to the first multicam and sync it perfectly to the master music. The music from the first half needs to continue and the second take needs to be matched up. Hope this makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is an interesting one. Is there music and dialog in the audio or is it music-only? You would probably need to find the first beat of the bar in both takes, cut at the beat in both instances and join them there. Does that help?

@@Brad_West thanks so much for taking the time to reply. So these are fitness videos. Two cameras, external sound recorder that has two mics (one for each trainer) and the live music track which is being cued up and started at specific starting points for each session. The movements the trainers make, and what they say, have to be timed perfectl;y to the routine. When they screw something up, they either start over again (which is a huge relief) or they say "let's pick it up from 2;13 (in the song) where Eddie dropped the barbell. When I edit, I grab all the video clips for this "track" and the external audio. The cameras are both getting nat sound. The audio also includes a music track, which I replace with a higher quality file when editing. The nightmare happens when they start over. I cannot seem to find a way to "sync" the new take (using the nat sound from camera) to the master music track that runs continuously through the track. The first half of the video is all synced up, but the second half is difficult to line up with the first. The live music which is playing and can be heard by the cameras, along with their voices is what is used to sync up the multicam, but I haven't been able to figure out how to line up the second take. Once again, I appreciate your help and must promise now to stop driving you nuts...thank you!

@@patrobertson4365 That's a really tough one. So does it sounds like the audio is just a little out of sync (in other words like the audio is phasing) or is it a totally different part of the song by the time it gets to the second take?
@patrobertson4365
@patrobertson4365 6 күн бұрын
@@Brad_West you are a ine fellow indeed...I have probably not explained this very well. So the instructors do their stuff and have dialogue and movments that need to be perfecclty matched to the routine, and that routine is matched to the music. So if they make a mistake during one of the "tracks" (which are just portions of a long fitness routine like "tricpes" that run for 5 or 6 minutes in sync to a song before the next "track") they have to start over at the moment when they screwed up. They play the song live, starting it at the point where they made the mistake. kSo the cameras roll again (or keep rolling) and I now have the second "part" of this "track." I have to take that video and match the movements best I can to where they were before the mistake, and I need to sync the new part of this video to the master song using this second part of the song (played live) (with the first half. So I have a multicam track that has a master song playing that has been synced to the song playing in the class. When they make mistakes I have this track now in two pieces but I need to line them up so it looks like one continious track. So imagine having two multicam files that need to be joinedtogether while keeping the underlying master song playing throughout. Almost like a music video. I have tried "syncing to monitor track" for these added on clips, but it never works. I always get the "file not long enough" error. It's failry difficult to hear the live music along with the voices, so I am hoping andd looking for a FCP sync answer rather than me listening as closesly as possible and trying to visually match up the live song to the master song. FCP does a perfect job if syncing the first half. Now, I will not bother you again. I didn't mean to turn this into a new carreer for you. REALLY APPRECIATE all your help!

@@patrobertson4365 No problem at all! I think I’ve got a better picture of your setup now. It's difficult to give exact advice without seeing your timeline, but let’s try this approach and see if it helps streamline your process: 1. Create a separate “master” audio track for the song that will run continuously through your whole sequence. This will be your main main music layer, uninterrupted, across all takes. 2. Sync the first take to this master audio track as you’ve been doing, with everything aligned to the music and the trainers’ movements. 3. For the second take, manually locate the start point in the master track by finding the exact beat where they picked back up (e.g., at 2:13 in the song). You could try the “synchronize clips” feature or if that doesn't work, try aligning it visually if there is enough to work with on the waveforms. 4. Once the visual sync is close, fine-tune it by listening to the audio to see if you can line the beats up. I know you said it's difficult to hear the music but hopefully if you can get it close visually, then it might be easier. I hope this helps. Best of luck! It sounds like a challenging edit 😄💪🏼
