I am glad you like them. If I can teach someone to fly in a real airplane I can surely help people learn to fly a sim with the tools given to me with FS2020. I try to push myself to make each video a little different and a little better than the last video. Most of the time!

I couldn't believe you started out at IMS! Because in 2018, I was able to take hot laps on the speedway in my Z06. And, I hadn't seen the speedway in MSFS2020 yet. It looks Identical to what I recall. Again, thank you for all your videos with amazing instruction and commentary! By the way, another sincere compliment to you is there's no way you've been flying for 25 yrs because you sound like you're in your twenties! I'm sure everyone would concur. LOL.

That's very cool that you got to be on track in your own car. They used to let people drive their own cars but didn't know they brought that back. I started flying in 1995. I'm in my 40s now. I've been flying for a job since 2000.

You did an amazing job with that airplane. I love it. It spins better than any airplane in FS2020 and it's the closest thing we have to helicopters with its ability to almost takeoff from a standstill. I'll be using it in videos when I can. Any thoughts on making Mike Patey's Draco?

Very welcome. There is one mistake in this video. I descended to pattern altitude while on the 45 degree entry. When on the 45, the airplane should be AT pattern altitude. If my memory serves correct, this was mentioned in the video, but in case it wasn't, now you know.

Agree with Harry. Better and better and extremelly usfuel. Concise, brief and to the point. Thank you for that Tim. Trully appreciate it. One of the most, at least for me, tricky, critical or difficult manuevers or procedures is the "Circle-to-Land". It seems to me that many things can go wrong in a very short period of time and in sequence. I am just wondering if you could provide some example with the CJ4. Thanks Tim and again, I am always lookinf forward to your very instructive videos. Congrats.

Circle to land is actually one of the 3 videos I am working on. I recorded one but didn't like it. I will be doing a CTL tutorial soon. The CJ4 will be used but the FMS doesn't do everything I want it to do in relation to how we do it in real life in the FMS. IRL, we can draw the circling radius off the end of the runway and actually enter the runway we're landing on for landing info after loading the approach to a different runway. The WTM won't do that yet but I am sure it will eventually. I just counted and I have 14 video ideas on my list. Plenty more to come! I am trying for one video per week but the next video may be longer than a week out due to my schedule.

@@thecorporatepilotdad Thank you Tim. Truly apprecaite it. Based on your experience, how far out do you think the folks from Working Titles are on the Pro Line 21?, if we were to scale it from 0- Not real to 100- Very real.?This is the very first Pro Line 21 that I see EVER working in ANY SIM after more than 20+ yrs of exp on the SIM. How far out, from "reality" is the current CJ4 version including the WT group MOD ?..Thank you Tim and I am looking forward to your next videos. Alot of work but truly appreciate it. Regards.

@@artalvar55 As far as functionality with the FMS and avionics I'd say they are at LEAST 75% of the way there if not more Some stuff in the FMS doesn't work that I would like to see work, but I am still very happy with what they have done so far. Asobo and their default CJ4 would be about 10% and that is being generous. I am very thankful for the effort and time WTM group has done and continue to do.

A beautiful piece. Thank you Tim again and best regards.

Thanks for another very useful video. I'd like to ask about flying a pattern from take-off in the Mooney. It gains speed and altitude very quickly in comparison to the Cessna 172. I'm guessing that you should take off on full power, so at what point, and by how much should you reduce the power? I tend to start reducing it when turning crosswind and try get the rate of climb down to about 500 feet per minute until reaching pattern height, but I've no idea whether that is the way you are supposed to fly it or not.
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 4 жыл бұрын
That depends on preference. In real life, engine failures can occur when throttle changes are made. So usually, power is not reduced until a safe altitude is reached. The definition of safe altitude changes from place to place based on terrain. You would always use full power for takeoff unless there were numbers for reduced power takeoffs. Reducing power when turning crosswind would be a good place for a power reduction.

I'm working on more basic tutorials with VFR procedures. Thanks for letting me know about the bad link. It is now fixed. All I did in the CJ4 FMS is make a point for a 3 mile final in the example that ATC instructs us to join a 3 mile right base. That fix just gives a waypoint at 3 miles from the end of the runway.

Question about reporting actions in a traffic pattern, particularly with several planes in the pattern. Doesn't that get to be a mess of people jamming a channel while the controller is giving instructions? And thanks. 45 degrees down wind. Is there a particular speed people should use? I'm guessing thats a trick, as Cessnas can't go as fast as some planes stall speed, I'm guessing that is where the 500 ft vertical separation comes in. But you also probably don't want people lapping each other like it's the indy 500. I was wondering about entry, as it it can be dicey people entering where they please. A lot of the charts I find, now using little navmap and its linked site pages, don't tell you what they want.
@thecorporatepilotdad

At towered airports position calls are not given or required unless ATC asks and they may say report downind. The communciation from the pilot would be, "N12345 is downwind." Simple. At a non-towered airport it can get to be busy but not bad. The calls are a little longer but as long as people pay attention and don't key the mic when others are transmitting, it is fine. I've had as many as 7 airplanes in the traffic pattern at once when I was flight instructing. Particular speed on the 45 entry - no. It depends on the airplane. Don't be fast but don't be slow. Most airplanes will probably be 30-40 knots above final approach speed by the 45 entry or shortly after it. The Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) is a free U.S. publication and that is a good source for more info on this and about anything imaginable when it comes to aviation. Enjoy - www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/aim_html/index.html

@@thecorporatepilotdad Thanks. Putting it all to use and learning. 3 vor flights, last one using KPIE FL reciprocal until I could pick up destination vor KEYW. Even dealing with fs2020 idea of airspace classes, and learning about them IRL. It tends to ignore C, as far as I can tell. Maybe a mod with better ATC.
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 3 жыл бұрын
@@icecold9511 ATC in FS2020 is awful. Have you seen my 2 VOR videos? One uses Navigraph so the airplane's position can be seen while flying which is very useful. The other one is a little more in depth and one of my earlier videos. Would you like to see a video on airspace? Others have said they would like to see it.
@icecold9511

@@thecorporatepilotdad Oh yeah, airspace. One question I had when moving between Tampa B and Sarasota C, was how that was handled. I assume IRL Tampa approach handled both areas, that that handled both all in one. I certainly can't squawk 2 transponder codes. I did confirm Miami approach, apparently handles south Florida traffic even on the east coast, griped when my transponder was off. I'm currently using little navmap by alt tabbing to desk top and taking headset off. Examining other in sim apps, as that gets annoying. Same for taxiway maps. And vfr for vr has bad taxiway maps. Starting to wish I had a flip up vr headset.

The very last segment (5 mile final into KIND 23R), I noticed that you already had flaps 30 on the base to final turn. However your gear was still up but there was no audio announcement of “Landing Gear” heard. I always get this at flaps 30. Any idea how to stop this ? Great tutorial BTW.
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 4 жыл бұрын
I had flaps 15 then gear down then flaps full. I went back and looked because if I slew the airplane the gear is always up after slewing. If the gear isn't down with flaps beyond the first notch you'll get the audible warning " landing gear". That is part of the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS). That can't be silenced even in real life in any airplane I've flown. I'm not sure if it's modeled but the same system will say things like "TOO LOW FLAPS", Sink rate, etc. The gear warning cannot be canceled. I also turn my audio down when I record so it is possible if I did have flaps 30 before gear down you may not have heard the warning.
