I like that effect on the restored one at the end. It looks like it has edge wear around all the body panels, like the roof and the exhaust vents, and it looks interesting and sort of realistic.

Great update. Its all about the small details, which by themselves add very little, but when used correctly make a scene look real.

brilliant video once again.I wish I would have known this a few weeks ago as there were Bachmann 66s in Freightliner that had been badly weathered on Ebay and they went really cheap Doh.Great tutorial again really enjoyed it mate.

Great advice! I've been able to restore some of my tankers that have been over-coated. Great layout and amazingly helpful guides.

Wow what a result cheers for that I bought a prince palatine BR Blue steam locomotive and it was weathered. I’ve just done as you shown and it’s come up lovley, it actually has come out slightly glossly so looks more like a freshly washed preserved railway locomotive

Great video and 'how to' tips, I have been hesitant to do any weathering on mine at this stage because I've never done it before and was worried I might mess something up, but this has given me a little bit more confidence. Cheers, Dan

Great tutorial there mate. I've actually seen some weathered models on eBay that didn't look that realistic and I wanted them pristine, so thanks to this walkthrough. I am going to try this to remove the weathering from the model :). Ash.

Thanks Ash, i know the feeling. I've seen some very cheap models on ebay just because of the terrible weathering they have. Otherwise they are good models.

I have just made a mess of weathering a BR Blue Class 47. I will try this method of removing the paint. Luckily I have not varnished it so it should hopefully come off quite easily.

On factory weathered locos would the weathering be under the varnish with no varnish on top of the paint unlike a weathered loco by a third party which sits on top of a factory lacquered film. Is there is a risk of paint removal.

I'm not a fan of weathering, myself ... I know it's more realistic, but I personally prefer nice and colourful and shiney!

Great video as always mate. Do you know if this works on factory weathered Bachmann locomotives? Also do you have any tips for removing super glue? I bought a loco I really want at a cheap-ish price but the name plates and depot plaques have been stuck on very poorly and I wanted to get them off and remove the excess glue without damaging the paint
@EverardJunction
@EverardJunction 10 жыл бұрын
I would expect this to work on factory weathering. As for super glue that can be difficult to remove as dried super glue is a type of plastic. First thing I would say is to try and chip it off if you can with a very sharp knife. Secondly you could try the tcut method and see if you can rub it off.

hey, before i start your videos are fantastic to watch and have helped me out of a number of problems i have had in the past so thanks for that.. just curious though how long does it usually take to get the paint back to its original with T CUT please
@EverardJunction
@EverardJunction 9 жыл бұрын
alan tidswell Depends on on how much paint is there and what type it is. For this loco each side took about 15 - 20 minutes.

I have the same question as you. I'm thinking the local auto parts store would have something similar. Just know that it's not a polish, but something that actually removes microscopic amounts of paint. In the past, I've used 99% isopropyl alcohol that I get from Safeway super markets to remove factory-painted model paint. It takes about as much scrubbing as the T-Cut, so, it's gentle enough that you can control it, unlike the brake fluid method which is too severe. Note: the 70% isopropyl alcohol just isn't strong enough. Get at least 90%.
@EverardJunction
@EverardJunction 10 жыл бұрын
avlisk T-cut is just an abrasive paste. Most car polish manufacturers will make an equivalent. Somthing by 3M might be somwhere to start. Might be worth asking your local autoparts store too.

Armor All Liquid Cut And Polish, I think that's available most countries, but most liquid cut and polish mixes should work - just try it first on a junk wagon or something.
