I like to use the fab filter mb to tame the 200 hertz area so it won’t thin out my vocals...I set it so if 200 hertz never gets to be so much it works better vs the eq cut...the eq cut makes the vocal thin....so I more so put a dynamic eq cut in that range so I can stay clean and keep a good bass....💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 dope videos keep me coming my guy

Hey man. Thanks for all of your vids! Seems like everything I need to ask about I just come straight to you with my questions, and it all gets explained exactly how I needed it! One question about plugins in general tho, if you have all these plugins in your chain (say on a vocal) and then you need to make more recordings in the song, do you wanna bypass or make them inactive while recording and then turn them back on again? Or maybe make a new track with nothing on it, and then pop the new recording onto the track with effects? How would you do it?

Hey Casey. Great question. I would make any of the plugins that cause heavy latency inactive because bypassing won’t help the latency. Or like you suggested, record on another track then drop it down. 💯

would be good to see one where you EQ a heavily processed vocal... many modern vocals are multi dubbed and have delays and heavy compression on them etc.. this causes resonances and heavy sibilance. Would love to see how you deal with all that. I have to use two sibilance plugins and they still don't remove all the sibilance and if they do it robs the vocal of the high end brightness.

Excellent EQ lesson,never seen or heard of anyone compressing before EQing.And I normally bring my low mids and high mids down lower,will have to trying bring them so far down,I also bring the mid mid down to,but I don't boost anything,is that good or bad?But other than that,I EQ the same way.

Alot of engineers do this. It never made much sense to me. My logic used to be cut the shit i dont want/need then compress. Its like building a bench say were making it 6ft but instead of cuttin it down from theb12fr pieces of wood its like building it then cutting it down to size. But it can and does help the overal sound. Just cant understand why lol.

My only issue is Compression going before the EQ. If you put the EQ before the compressor you generally get better results. But everybody does things differently.
