This video popped up in my mobile Google feed and it was really helpful! I love the way you're explaining what you're doing as you go and I got a lot out of the concept of focusing on "how does it FEEL?" instead of "how does it SOUND?" Good stuff, man! Really excellent energy. Keep up the great work! 👍

Hello! I am looking to get a better sound out of my vocal and this is what I’ve been seeing the steps I should take, a great mic pre And a a/d converter. So my question to you is a dedicated a/d converter necessary ? Or could I just go from the mic pre to my interface ( scarlet 2i2 3rd gen)?

Devvon, My vocal tracks have like 20+ vocal resonances. After about the 3k range, I will have a vocal resonance in 300 Hz increments up until like 12k (there are a ton). It's really only pertinent when I'm belting, but they exist in every vocal recording. I tested my mic placement during recording to see if that's the issue, and it's not. When I watched your video on EQ sweeping, I noticed you only have maybe 2 or 3 of these total, which leads me to believe something is off about what I'm doing or my recording setup or something. Any ideas? Thank you!

When you master are you supposed to master the beat and vocals all in one bus?? or master each individual track ive been confused on that. Also if you went to school for this where did you go?
@joneslego3645
@joneslego3645 4 жыл бұрын
if you are doing individual tracks you're still in the mixing stage, mastering is a final polish you give to the whole song. So you would do it on the master bus.

I just hate anything mainstream when everyone does things like the next person, without facing the reality maybe that is something not actually right but everyone will come along and say and do the same, then if another person comes and does different from popular they will say he is a fool and start calling names When people teach mastering they should not just say or be like am only adding zero point 5 db here and there, as if that is gonna help. The fool that teaches that not realize that, mastering engineer who masters for Usher or Jazy etc these recording track that they gave him to master as already pretty perfect, by another top engineer who could also master if he wanted. So the recorded are usually so good that on a little touch here are there is required. But those learning from KZbin who record their on songs are not so great in mixing and their tracks, will not have any help by boosting or cutting tiny bit. But just because that is said or dont by mastering engineer . Their are times you want to master some old recordings I promise 1 or 2 db wont make any difference. Instead of these people talking about the important things of reality, like why is a mix bad, and watch me master or fix this badly mixed song. Every video will sound the same person. mastering is about doing little things. No; there is such rule just because some mastering engineer gets perfect mixes sent to them. Master in about making a song better than it was, if it needs lots of work to make it better you do the much moves to get you there, and if a song need little, then you do just enough to make it better. Bro you are black guy, stop acting like white people, who are too cliche and and to comfort and sound like me too. I just so man videos about this because I wanted something specific not that I dont know, but every video each person saying and doing the same thing, even its not really so. I can name ever pro recorded songs that need to mastered and need lots of work; let alone songs by these home studio people. Go get the instrumental of Stir it Up by Bob Marley and try to remaster it, and let s see if your 1 OR 2 DB boosts or cuts will fix and make the song better. And I do master of it according to what it needs, lots of cuts and boost to fix it. If someone hears these lies of just boost or very little, they wont learn. because most recordings by most need much work because they are not pro mixing engineer, even if their work sound nice in one system it might horrible if played in club or even a car etc. So mastering song that is not coming from a very good mixer will most like need more work. That is what the fact it, but KZbin is full of BS info about gears and about learning. You need to stand out and change these mainstream popular lies. Like oh its Taboo to mix in headphones, there was a time that was a popular thing everyone was saying, but we know it was never really true, or some people just beginning to realize that, no, you can mix and master in headphones, even with closed back. So people should stop all those stupid rules or this or that is how things must be. Thanks
