How to Feed Your Mystery Snails

There are many things Mystery snails will eat .I want to point out that this is summer squash and not zucchini in this video but zucchini will Work the same . It is very easy to keep them happy and healthy. You can use this method I show you with great success.

That's a yellow squash, not zucchini which is dark green. Lol. I feed mine squash, zucchini, spinach, kale, green beans, etc. They love green leafy lettuces too. This is a great video, very informative. The longer you boil the veggies the more nutrients they lose. Blanching is bringing water to a vigorous boil then dropping a few in so it keeps boiling, only leave veggies in vigorously boiling water for 10 to 20 seconds. Pull them out and immediately run cold water over them. Just fyi.

Great vid! Someone got me a rabbit snail for Xmas 🙄.....long story short, my parakeet died recently so they thought I'd want another pet lol. What at first I dreaded and thought ugh, more work....Im LOVING it!!! I've learned alot since having him. I bought a slightly bigger tank (5.5 gal) changed the rocks to sand, got rid of alot of the decorations. My friend just had it so crowded in a 3 gal tank. Learned how to make the water perfect with some hardness for the shell, been feeding him algea chips, but I want to introduce greens and other veggies. This video was perfect! Ty ty!!! Is it normal if your snail is always active? Mine is always zooming around the tank and he's pretty fast for a snail lol! he also likes to go to the top of the water level and then he purposely detaches himself from the glass and falls down

Same here. I have a rabbit snail. I read somewhere that they'll go to the top to be able to fill the shell with air making in lighter. Not sure how true it is, but it sounds logical 🤷‍♀️

Never knew snails ate zucchini & spinach! Still learning new things everyday! Out @ the pet store w my gdaughter tonite. To actually buy bigger shells for her brothers hermit crab that he brought home from the beach in one of them tiny lil cages, almost 3yrs ago!! To my surprise its lived all this time! They had always died in past yrs when my brothers & i would stupidly bring them home every yr! Would b upset & try again the txt yr to no avail! So whenever i saw my gson return from his beach trip with another hermit crab, i just shook my head! My other gdaughter brought one w her also, had kept @ her house to live!, she kept it in its lil cage it came in. & we kept his @ my home..i have all there lil creatures @ my house to keep them going strong! So when i saw the crab i started doing some investigating on what they really needed to stay alive, now that i was older & capable of doing! Went out shopping w my gson. $200.00 later we were on way home to make Mr Crab a perfect home! In which we did & hes still w us 3yrs later!! The other crab is sadly no longer w us any longer. Even though i had given her some supplied id bought. She just kept it in the little wire cage from the beach it came in!! So We needed some bigger shells for our hermit crab friend..Off to pet store! Pet store though only seems to have painted shells everytime we go. which i read r not good for them! Why would they keep selling them! Bright pink, orange, neon green shells! No plain reg shells!..im going to have to find Them somewhere else. Def needs bigger shell! In the meantime my hyper active lil gdaughter is wanting, fish, a bird, a tarantula, basically anything she could get. She then found the mystery snails. Wanted some for fish tank! I looked up on google bcuz i wasn't sure if they would b good to have w the betta fish, we've had for about 6yrs now. Some saying yes. Some saying no. Read on lil more..more seemed to say it would b ok. One person said to take betta out for a while, rearrange tank, put in snail/snails wait awhile then put the betta back in & all should b just fine! Ok so i bought only 1 to begin with. If the snail survives & tentacles stay intact we'll get another one. We bought, brought home, did what the person advised.had head start, betta was already out as gdaughter cleaned tank today. Was already rearranged. Betta waiting to go back in its tank.when home, put snail in to get acclimated.betta back in..have been in there for few hrs now. So far so good! But what i didnt realize is i know nothing about these snails!! So ive been doing some reading. Have learned quite a bite!! Since i knew nothing! Will have to go shopping tomm for some snail supplies now! Thanks for the advise on the veggies, who would have know id b cooking for a snail!!

Good job. I do the same thing. I also feed them green beans, they must be cut up and never canned.I also give them give them some raw fish on occasion. eg: a small piece of fresh flounder.They LOVE that and it breaks up their vegetarian diet. In addition I keep a cuttle bone in their tanks for extra calcium.

@@melissas3064 I use what I have, fillet of sole. Any white flesh will do imo like cod etc. I haven't tried salmon. I defrost it in aquarium water in a small glass. Don't cook it. Throw it in at night and remove what's not eaten in the morning. If they're still feeding on it leave in a while longer.

I fed a piece of blanched zucchini to our 3 mystery snails, who were in a shared tank with a beta. It turned the water disgusting after only a day, and killed our beta, and several days later one of the snails died. I changed the water after the zucchini because it stunk so bad, not to mention the poor beta fish rotting in it. What did we do wrong??

The food should always be organic because conventional food may have been sprayed with pesticide or insecticide which is designed to kill pests such as snails.

My Apple snails wont eat Spinich :-( And I've also tried making snail Jello. They ate it the first couple days, but wont touch it now. All they will eat is algae wafers and snail food i got on Amazon. I want them to have a better diet. I will cross my fingers they will eat zucchini.

Doggoroo yes because the zucchini will float at the top . You can however use something to tie it down if you don’t want to boil . I also like boiling because it kills off anything unwanted on the veggies

Tanya Hamel it depends on the amount of snails you are feeding . I always had over 500 so there wouldn’t be leftovers . I would also do this twice a week
