I'm in my 40s, here what worked for me: collagen powder every day, retinoid, try to lose weight slowly to avoid skin sagginess, eat healthy and avoid food that increase inflammation, not wearing makeup all the time, avoid the sun, be happy and avoid tension and stress.

Speaking of powder needing to be used in little amounts as you age, that L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable powder is as good as all the high end holy grail viral trendy powders at 1/4 the price. I am shocked this hasn’t been used more on the beauty channels. I absolutely love the Rimmel Stay Matte because it does not look or feel heavy, show as powder no matter the amount you use, but this L’Oréal provides a little more coverage, without looking like you’ve powdered and it also helps blur and give a smooth appearance to the skin so you look airbrushed. The square compact is the one I’m talking about, not the circular one. If you’ve not yet tried it, I highly recommend grabbing one, and the shade range isn’t too shabby either.

It is because of you that I want to wear makeup more often! I struggle with health issues, so I can go weeks without wearing any makeup, but I have stepped up my skincare game a lot. One step I do add after I apply primer, foundation and concealer is adding setting spray before powder. I let it dry completely, then use the tiniest amount of powder!

I love pulling color into a neutral eye by using a shadow or eyeliner pencil smoked out as a liner. It doesn’t overwhelm the look you have, but it gives that pop, defines the eyes a lot more and brings out the eye color making the eye look way less boring. It’s so easy to do, quick, fun, yet it makes such a big difference.

My humble suggestion is use a gentle liquid exfoliant after cleansing at night, then allow it to absorb into your skin and apply a retinol cream on top. This will sleuth off any dry patches in your skin. I'm currently using Good Molecules overnight exfoliating treatment formulated with AHA + BHA ( I would use it like a Monday, Thursday and Sunday in that sequence because it's super gentle. Caveat if you just shaved your face wait 24 to 48 hrs before using actives. After the liquid exfoliant I put on MARÉE Collagen and Retinol deep moisturizer on top or you could sandwich it with some ELF Holy Hydration cream. Skin prep is everything, at night and in the morning and last but not least sunscreen is a must. I like Haru Haru chemical sunscreen and Misha Sun milk with the pink Cap and both are SPF 50. Also you can boost your Sunscreen with vitamin C. I like Goodal Green Tangerine Vitamin C Dark spot serum before applying sunscreen. Edited: I use Haru Haru chemical sunscreen all over my face after applying Vitamin C and then apply Misha Sun Milk sunscreen in my T-zone as a primer and it blurs my pores.

Hi Marlena. I have been watching your videos for a while now & they are great. I have a quick question for you-you used to rave a lot about the Lancôme Teint Idole UltraWear foundation. I was thinking of trying it but then read it was reformulated approx. 1 year ago. Do you still love it? And if I remember correctly you have dry skin, correct? I normally would not buy a matte complexion product because I have dry skin but I trust your opinion on these things. It might be nice to have a foundation that is not so glowy for a change. I am good at skincare prep & could use glowy primer too. Please let me know your thoughts on the reformulated version when you can. Thanks!

Dear Marlena, thank you so much for putting your attention towards women who are not that young anymore! 🌹 What I have noticed is the less product I use, the better it works for me. If I just do a second layer of foundation under my eyes, it looks almost invisible while adding a layer of concealer makes my fine lines look really pronounced. I have a question, please. In the morning do you cleanse your skin (with micellar water, for example) or do you just start with a primer? And another one, please: when (if at all) do you apply your sunscreen? Before your primer? Instead of your primer? Please kindly advise.

My face, and consequently, my makeup, didn't change until my early 60s, lucky genes as my mum looked like she was half her age until her 70s, when she, devastatingly died from pancreatic cancer. I am 66 as of the 2nd week of July, and I'm finding g changes now. I follow your tips because they make sense now that I have to consider my under eye region and use a dewier foundation. You have had the best tips and, after seeing her with you, I also follow Nikki Larose as she's got great tips too, especially as to how to apply cream products properly as they are so much more flattering on more mature skin. I have never used fillers, botox and, due to a bad, horse related break, in my nose, I did have a medical septo-rhinoplasty for sleep apnoea. It straightened my nose, no doubt, but wasn't by a plastic surgeon, rather an ear, nose and throat surgeon, on the NHS. I sleep on my back and believe the position you sleep in to be one of the most important factors in reducing lines. Especially naso-labial lines, if, for some reason, like going out for a drink with friends, I do fall asleep on my side, the lines appear like magic (bad magic)! I think sleeping on your back, using a factor 50j sunscreen and generally trying to avoid sitting around in the sun without a hat or shade. I am notoriously bad at keeping up skincare routines bit do use retinol, the occasional peel, and polyglutemic acid or glycerine when I do. I always apply the H.A. and P.G.A. to damp skin and cover with a moisturiser (Nivea or generic aqueous cream) to prevent evaporation. You look great Marlena and, with your lovely skin and great bone structure, I am sure you will continue looking young for decades to come ❤

drinking alcohol ages women fast. I first noticed about 5 yrs ago when I quit for a yr. The before and after pics were pretty hard to look at. its been 3 yrs with no alcohol and my skin, my energy and my decision making processes are better than ever. most of the gals on youtube or in entertainment have a worn out, often swollen look if they drink booze or wine.
