Love your outings and videos. Bringing gold up with black sand on a magnet is more luck than anything. The magnet might help you find those pockets of heavies, but just think how much more gold you would have taken from that crevice had you used your crevice sucker and run it through your sluice? You’d be doing a happy dance because your top mat would be peppered with gold. Look forward to that video!!!

Kyle I really like your videos. So if I am correct I am thinking anywhere you fine the magnetite or iron based sand there is usually gold. If I find a spot where I am finding a lot of flakes in the magnetite it might be worth putting in a sluice in that area. My question is can you find gold anywhere? I live in Pennsylvania and it is not known for gold but is is possible in streams to find some in Western Pennsylvania?

I take very very very close friends and that’s it once a location is spoken of to one person it usually gets bombarded no disrespect or saying you will do that and also I am on private property I would have to speak with the landowner as well it’s just a huge hassle so I do not, unless I’m on public land !

The neodymium/rare earth magnet attracts the magnetite (black sands) & hematite sands, both of which are magnetic, so quickly, that gold gets trapped among the grains, before it is able to fall away, like it would with an ordinary magnet. Gold isn't magnetic or directly affected by the neodymium magnet. Because black sand is heavier than regular sand, it often settles in the same locations as gold.

So i took my magnet out to the club meeting a few weeks ago and got made fun of by the guys. Doncha know gold isn't magnetic, that sort of thing. They stopped laughing when i was getting more gold in a couple casts through a deep hole then they were getting out of whole buckets of material. Then they all wanted to know where i got it after that.
