You actually do not, anyone who claims you need the Nat Dex for GBA slot encounters to occur is misunderstand the GBA slot encounters, all of them have a low encounter rate, for Gengar here it's 4% in DP and 8% in Platinum, no NatDex is required despite all the misinformation about it, you're just gonna be running around a while running from Gastly before you eventually find Gengar, like, hours.

For Reference: You DO NOT need NatDex for this at all. The GBA slot mons are of a low encounter rate, I can see why people think you need NatDex, but that is in fact not the case. All you actually need is: A GBA Pokémon Mainline Game (RSE/FRLG) in your DS Slot 2 Be in Old Chateau, in the room with the painting that has red eyes Flee Gastly until you encounter a Gengar It's a 4% encounter rate in DP, 8% in Platinum, so yes, you'll be there a few hours, and sure, it'll seem like you're doing something wrong, but you aren't, so just keep at it. When you get one, pre-NatDex, let me know here, maybe we can dispell all this misinfo around needing the NatDex for Gengar, since you absolutely do not need it.

Ok, A, no NatDex actually needed, that's misinformation people keep spreading, it's unnecessary. You have Ruby in Slot 2, you're at Old Chateau, that's all there needs to be. Remember, Gengar is a 4% Encounter in DP, and an 8% in Platinum, which means you'll be running from Gastly for hours before a Gengar shows up, but it WILL happen. No NatDex needed.

Yes, the people claiming you need NatDex for this are full of it. No official source says you need it, and I've encountered a few looking for a shiny, and I only have 2 badges, it jist takes a few hours to encounter one instead of a Gastly.

Blizzard termina el juego, consigue ver los 150 pokémon del pokedex nacional (no es necesario atrapar a todos solo tienes que verlos) y de ahí necesitas que tú DS pueda leer cartuchos de GBA, usas cualquiera de la 3era generación (ruby&zafiro, hoja verde, fuego rojo o Esmeralda), eso es todo haciendo eso te permite encontrar Gengar y Haunter.
