How To Find Out Who You Are and Your Purpose in Life. How to discover your talents and strengths...This morning I woke up and read a little bit of Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I was inspired to sit down with a pen and piece of paper and start writing what came to my mind. After writing three lists of things I know about myself I was surprised to find I had created for myself an extremely eye-opening and valuable exercise that has helped me find my voice as a human being. I felt this is something I wanted to share for you...so here you go!
Step 1. Make a quick list of your aptitudes (your natural talents and things you are good at)
Step 2. Make a quick list of your specialized knowledge (training, expertise, things you know about or how to do)
Step 3. Make a quick list of your core philosophies (what do you believe, your world views, beliefs about money, love, etc.)
Watch the video and I'll walk you through the exercise and explain!

Do people not realize that THINK AND GROW RICH is a TONED-DOWN version of Napoleon Hills law of success in sixteen lessons? Listen or read the original they pulled it off the shelf back then because they knew how accurate it was and then put out the toned down version which is think and grow rich. Forget the second one, read or listen to the original!!

+Darnesha Grays So good to hear Darnesha! It's too cool to hear this kind of feedback. Like you, I just woke up one morning and was doing some morning studying and meditating. That's when I felt inspired to start writing some things down. Before I knew it this exercise popped out on paper and I did it for myself. It seemed so simple to do, yet so clarifying. It sounds like you are aligned with the same inspiration. I encourage you to keep it up..and then contribute what insights you've gained with others. Pay it forward! Thanks again for the feedback! I'm inspired to make more videos ;)

+Ely Hoshea “The best way not to be bored is to do what you like doing, typically something you’re good at.” - I think you may enjoy this article www.psychologytoday.com/blog/open-gently/201212/why-people-get-bored. I understand where you are coming from Ely. I would spend some time with this exercise and even revisit often to dial in on what lights you up. Creating a morning routine for yourself that includes self-reflection and ingesting inspirational or motivational info will also be of massive benefit. Some great books are "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill and "How to Win Friends & Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. Just feed your mind every morning (even if you only have 4 minutes to spare!) and you will experience a shift much sooner than you might expect. Thanks for your question and I hope this helps!

I'm aware there is controversy over Napoleon Hill's character. However, the information in his book is also mirrored in other great books such as Psycho Cybernetics and there is a world of research validating the power for our minds to influence our results in life. I draw my inspiration from many different sources. At the time of my life I made this video, Think and Grow Rich was one of the first to introduce me to these concepts. Don't mistake the man for the concepts. They are two different things and not original to Napoleon Hill.
@sfkeepay
@sfkeepay 2 жыл бұрын
@@EricCoplen, I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. It isn’t the author. It’s the content. However, if you’ll provide a few references to the research you mentioned, I am open to correction. I’m skeptical, but I’d actually prefer to be wrong on this, since it would be very empowering.
@EricCoplen
@EricCoplen 2 жыл бұрын
@@sfkeepay Sure. I recommend you start with the book I mentioned called Psycho-Cybernetics. It's available as audiobook for free here on KZbin. Just search for it.. It will offer you a more grounded and scientific approach to how "attracting" success works. Sometimes the woo woo crowds make all this sound like magic fairy dust but that is more of a description of how it feels to them when they suddenly start perceiving a world of opportunity where you couldn't see it before.

This video popped up on my 'recommended videos' and KZbin must know me well because I couldn't agree more with you. I'm so glad that after your epiphany you decided to film and share what you came up with. Blending the 3 lists is a brilliant way to bring your passions and gifts to life, most people don't break it down like this. It's logical, rational, AND spiritual- the formula to bring it reality. I'm also a big picture thinker so it was cool to see you mirror back to me what I see in myself. You're a rad guy with that has an important message to share with people, keep sharing your light and vulnerability, it's appreciated. ~ Tiffany

That's real talk right there, Corbin! You are blessed and equipped with everything you need already, it's already inside of you. Like for example, I love to make music. And I have watched tutorials until I got blue in the face about how to make music. But in the end, I end up making music my own way. And I don't need to learn how to compose melodies, when my brain already naturally knows how to do it. You can't tell a tiger that he must learn how to not be wild. You either got the nature for it, or you don't.

Hi K Hum. Thank you for sharing your experience. In my experience, most people feel like you do at times, me included. I'm sure you have abilities and social talents that you are giving yourself credit for. I recently heard someone say that when you have nothing to look forward to, you feel depressed. If you don't feel you have "talents" or "abilities", then you might consider joining some local meetup groups or facebook communities where you could learn new things and meet new people. Often, something as simple as having an event to look forward to and a community to be part of will help pull you out of a rut. Give yourself credit. You didn't make it to your 50's without abilities and talents...it's impossible. Try my exercises and be nice to yourself. See what you discover!

@EricCoplen
@EricCoplen 8 жыл бұрын
+Lara Becker I'll share wit you what I replied another comment. Thank you for the question btw! Try asking your friends and family that question of what your gifts are or what your good at in their eyes. Other ideas you should explore are taking a personality test (www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test) and even an aptitude test (www.whatcareerisrightforme.com/career-aptitude-test.php). These can give you insights and clues. Often our talents are so natural to us that we can't see them as talents. We tend to notice them in others more easily, especially when we don't possess the same talent. This is why it is a good idea to get feedback from friends and family who know us well...it may feel a little scary, but totally worth it. And one last thing...just relax in the knowledge that your life will change all the time. It's ok to start on something today that you shift away from in a year or even 10 years from now. If you think you may enjoy something, then go for it and test it out. You will learn much about yourself and find talents you didn't even know you have. Don't think you need a perfect travel route planned for life, you just need a general direction. You'll figure out the rest along the way. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. But I need to do this too, because so many a time I try to figure out what is my purpose in life is? Ok... Let me start off this way... Things i am good at > cooking, dancing, singing but that needs more development, remebering people's face no matter how many years we last.. Once or few days i will have three record of the individual > 1.height (now this you might grow taller but one thing remains the same your gait) 2.the shape of the head 360 degree 3.your smell.. Oh that might sound awkward and making people laugh.

how do you choose to focus on 1 thing that will provide the most income but have many gifts and talent in completely different areas. Like getting a job to pay bills vs. pursuing passion and gift that might not generate enough income . For example, I am creative and also business minded and don't want to struggle financially or be poor. That's why I didn't pursue music theatre acting, dancing, in the arts because the time to earn anything is taking so long when bills and student loans or calling.

Thanks for your video and for sharing I appreciate it. I can see you're a good person and honestly look for the best way to have a happy and balanced life and I can only support you for doing that but I can also feel that you're on the edge and need help. Now I'm not teaching you and I don't blame you. Just let me put it differently. I can see you look for answers, you're clever and sensitive and go for the right things. Besides you give a lot and listen carefully but let me ask you one question: did you ever ask for help? I don't mean look for help in books and videos and audio recordings I really did you ask anyone for help because you felt you need it? Again I'm not teaching you I just happened to do a lot of the things you do and I forgot one thing which is help myself the way I helped others and treat myself as I would treat others. See other people's life meant more to me than mine and I thought why lose so much time and energy focusing on me when there's so much needs to be done and so many people asking for help. I just forgot I was one of them. You too I suppose. See "God helps those who help themselves" is probably the most often quoted phrase that is not found in the Bible. But "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and yeshall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seekethfindeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened" is in the Bible. I wish someone told me at the time. Not that I regret anything I gave away or the time I spent listening and caring. I just think I would have been a much better helper if I had asked for help when I needed it. If I'm wrong then forgive me I just didn't want to take a chance. Now if it rings any bell just ask and I believe you'll be given. Take care!
