I was looking for Raikou for about 4 days straight and used about 200 Max Repels. Took a long ass time but he showed up! Just gotta be patient. These are the hardest Pokemon to catch in the entire series!

i literally just found the god strat for finding these two puppies. Fly to olivine and get on bike Ride north to route 39 and at the first patch of grass activate max repel(just go up and down once no need to keep circling) Then follow the road going towards route 38 Hop the ledge and ride the grass on the way to Ecruteak city Then head down to route 37 and circle the first patch of grass and then hop the ledge where the berries are and ride through that patch of grass. Finally go to route 36 and ride on the small patch of grass until max repel runs out. rince and repeat I literally found them within 5-7 minutes of eachother. Found entei on route 36 and raikou on route 37.

I used this method and on the FIRST attempt I found Raikou on Route 36, in the final patch of grass! Because he is faster than Jynx, I decided to save Master Ball for him so I couldn't be happier about finding him first!

Raikou can be up to 109 speed. Go to ekreutek city go to the grass. If raikou is more than 2 routes away you have to fly back to ekruetek to reset his location. There’s a code that will not let you just go back and forth between routes or cities.

It was the exact opposite for me I found raikou and entei both on the same route on my way to lake of rage first entei said hi then after I got to lake of rage and caught gyarados and was on my way back to the town raikou shows up. However in gold and silver i played through the entire game and never saw raikou, entei, or suicune once

Well why not use haunter instead? He has excellent speed to match up with lvl40 raikou. Use hypnosis then dream eater (if you had that already) on him. But the moment he wakes up he'll try to flee, so I had mean look and lick (an attack with a good chance to paralyze) on haunter too. A little patience will pay off without using masterball.

For some reason even thought Raikou's speed was 105 when I caught it, it kept outspeeding my Jynx with speed 110. I wonder if it's because it was close enough to her speed, or maybe because it was selecting quick attack as its backup move which gave its flee priority over my mean look. I don't know, I got so impatient I just threw my master ball at it lol

There’s nothin “random” about the dogs movements. It took me a while to figure out their movements are based off yours. When you change a route look where they move to, you can reverse your action and they will reverse there’s to the previous location. It takes some practice but you can direct their movements to the location you want. From what I can tell there’s a couple locations they will lock in and let you run into them. The route directly below ecruteak and the route below violet. The first meeting will be random but if you spend time catching Pokémon and never fly no more then you have to they will show up! Also your movements should stay in the middle of the map. For instance I never have to bike to blackthorne olivine or new bark to corner the dogs. If anyone needs more info hit me up I can expand on everything. I’ve run into raikou 5 Times in the last hour and he’s my last dog to catch

If you didn't found Raiku yet than camping on one spot did not help. You need to fly in different towns and check different areas. Find Entei and Raiku easier at first time, so save game (in emulator) right after they appear and reload game if they run away. You have to have Haunter lvl 39 with Hypnosis, Lick, Night Shade, Mean Look. First put them to slip with Hypnosis, then use Mean Look so they can't run away, then use Night Shade for big damage and Lick for small damage. Low down their HP and save game. And finally just throw ultra balls and reload game with F1-F10 keys. Hope it helps.

IIRC there's a bug or something, when a roaming dog is under Mean Look effect and it uses Roar against you, you can't catch it anymore in that savefile. Not 100% sure, sorry if it's false info ;;

If Crobat is your Mean Look user (like me), Raikou is the Legendary to save your Master Ball for (as least in my opinion). I caught Lugia earlier today despite my team's levels being in late 40's and two are lv50 (was freaking annoying because it kept using Recover). My Umbreon also knows Mean Look and outspeeds the 3 beasts, but I prefer Crobat.

Put a lvl 40 pokemon on top. 4.) Starting from new bark town, sweep all the grasses up to blackthorn city then back to new bark town 5.) If you still not find them, repeat step 3.

I just did some research and apparently paralyzing and status moves besides freeze don't do anything to increase the catch rate. It is supposed to but broken in Gen 2. It is on the bulbapedia page for Catch Rate and many other sources seem to confirm it. So all you want to do is trap it and False Swipe, basically the same without wasting a turn to paralyze. And of course the clone glitch is super easy in Gold and Silver so you could clone the master ball. The clone glitch is harder in Crystal because the frame window is much smaller

Damn, childhood memories. 14 years ago, one of my unforgettable experience is to catch that Raikou in Pokemon Silver he is the last one on my list to hunt and its very difficult. If I remember correctly Im using a Haunter too with Mean Look, Hypnosis and Lick its frustrating that after you successfully lock him up with Mean Look then Raikou would instantly use his Roar and boooom! you'll have to start to look for it again. I never had the time to catch it because my savefile that year was corrupted and I was very devastated because it took me a month leveling my pokemons to level 87 and above my highest level pokemon I had that day was my Feraligator with the level of 100 and after that sad ending I never played pokemon silver again because the savefile battery of my cartridge has dried out and the save is not working anymore and I dont know how to fix that. Back in the present time, last week I started playing pokemon crystal and finish it 3 days only I finally caught all of the annoying dog trio and as expected Raikou is the last one I encounter. One thing I noticed in the game after you successfully hit a Frozen status to a pokemon you want to catch the chances of catching Ho-oh and Lugia increases and with the help of that magical FRZ status they can't do anything and you necessarily don't need a Master Ball to catch both of them anymore because Ultra Balls are enough to own them.

no, you can use bike and you need to sweep, I mean all of the grass patches must be gone through. If you finish running all of the grass and back to new bark town, use fly to blackthorn and then start again. sometimes greed sensor is a shit XD. just have patience. some of my gamethrough takes 1 to 2 days to see them.

I found Raikou eventually although I changed my tactic: try to both search in the small piece of grass in front of the cave exit and, when you drive to the city to re-set. also drive down to the grass that can be found south of the city, down the mountain, but without jumping over the ledges. Try to switch between those two and maybe you'll have more luck.

I caught Raikou and Entei one after the other in the same place. I never seen Raikou but came across him while searching for Entei which I had on 1% health so I just launched my master ball and caught him straight away and caught Raikou the repel never warn off, walked a couple of spaces and then I was in a battle with Entei, used hypnosis with a level 80 hypno that i levelled up with a Drowzee and caught him with an ultra ball straight after.. was so lucky

J'ai essayé fort de comprendre comment influencer Raikou. J'ai quelques astuce intéressantes qui ont fonctionné pour moi. Premièrement, chaque fois que vous volez d'une ville a l'autre, les légendaire bouge beaucoup, donc à éviter. Acheter des Max Reppel vendu dans la ville Blackthorn City a 700. Pour trouver Raikou, votre premier Pokemon dans votre liste doit être inférieur au niveau 40. Dans un contexte logique, si vous êtes trop fort, Raikou aura peur de vous. Et dans un autre sens, si votre premier Pokemon est de niveau inférieur à ceux qui apparaissent dans la nature, votre Max Reppel pourrait ne pas fonctionner pleinement. Ensuite, je trouve parfait d'alterner entre la route 37 et la ville Ecruteak City. Chaque fois que vous changer de route, les légendaire changent également. Dernier truc (qui a fonctionné rapidement pour moi), un certain Sunny apparaît sur la route 37 près des trois arbres Apricorn (uniquement le dimanche), pour vous donner un Magnet. Le Magnet est un élément tenu dans les jeux Pokémon. Lorsqu'il est tenu par un Pokémon, il augmente la puissance des mouvements de type électrique. Ici, ce que j'ai fait est de donner l'item a mon premier Pokemon de ma liste. Cela m'a permis d'attirer beaucoup plus facilement Raikou (de type electrique).

If You’re going to hunt the legendary dogs make sure you are sure your packing Pokémon moves that prevents escape like mean look , fire spin, whirlpool, or others Paralysis to cut the speed in half have plenty of ultra balls and fast balls I only throw the master balls on my videos to show people the encounter not to have them see me chase down the legendary Pokémon

Why tackle? Wouldn't false swipes be safer/better? In gen III onwards I use Breloom as my Pokémon catcher. Spore, false swipes, swords dance and synthesis, plus technician to bump up false swipes a little. It's imo the perfect Pokémon catching set.

btw not all smeargles will have the same stats at level 52 or any level. any pokemon of the same species can have completely different stats at the same exact level, same exact pokemon! this is cuz every single pokemon can have different EVs, IVs, DVs, Natures, stat exp etc which can greatly effect how high a stat number is compared to the same exact pokemon at the same level. like a level 100 gengar for example with perfect evs ivs nature and all that the stats will be A LOT higher than a gengar with low evs ivs and a bad nature and all that. it is like this with EVERY single pokemon ever. EDIT and stat exp

In Pokemon LeafGreen Version, Suicune appeared in the water. In Gold, Silver, and Crystal Version, none of them appeared in the water. I wondered if it was ever planned for Suicune to appear in water, but according to original Game Boy programming, they had to stick to that plan for them to appear in tall grass.

Well Raikou has a base speed of 115, where Smeargle has a base speed of 75. Where technically you could level up your Smeargle to the point where he would undoubtfully outspeed the Raikou, you are losing that first turn priority that you get if you search for him using the repel technique.

Beasts are programmed to avoid the player if you go from one route to another consecutively. Meaning that this method is kinda outdated and has pretty terrible odds actually, only 0.2% chance of the beast being there. Look for a reddit post by a guy named Chamale, he details a similar method that takes this into account, which essentially boils down to alternating between Mahogony Town and Violet City.

The clone glitch dosen't work on crystal. Unless if you have two old gbc to trade from pokemon crystal from pokemon gold/silver to it so then you can use the clone glitch in gold/silver and then trade with master ball. Which i use to do a long time ago with my silver and crystal verison. I think this guy is also using emulator too.

ZoroarksClone Alright I figured that was the easiest, so maybe you can clear this up for me, I heard somewhere down the line that you can get into some legal flack if you use a ROM to record for Pokemon game-play, does any of that sound remotely true? I don't mean to sound dumb or seem like I'm trying to cause trouble, I'm just finding it hard to find info on that subject...

If you have never legally owned a physical copy of what ever game you are playing, and if worse comes to worse then yes, you can get into trouble over downloading it. However if you can prove that you own a physical copy then you are good to go.

Use the item duplicate for master ball. Save before interacting in them on the tower. Make lvl.30 pokemon on the first slot. Use many max repels.(duplicate nuggets for money). Look on the grasses west, south and east of eureka city. Dont use fly as they just run randomly. Dont save if you caught 1 or 2. Save if you caught the 3 of them. I caught them all after around 1 hour not saving. Reset if you cannot get them all in their place.

I caught entei literally straight away. Been tryna get raikou for 8 days 6 hours now and still nothing. The 1st pokemon in my party is only lvl 34 aswell.

Entei and suicune were easy to catch but raikou was a pain it took me a full year and the summer of 2002 to finally catch it.

What about Ho-oh. You need masterball for Ho-oh. When you caught raikou, entei and suicune you speak to the kid in the poke center at cerulean city. He then tells you theres rumours of a rainbow pokemon in tin tower. Then you go to tin tower and speak to the 2nd sage who gives you the rainbow wing. Then you go to top of the tower where rainbow wing causes Ho-oh to appear at level 60. I've already caught Lugia, Celebi, and Suicune so far. Just need to catch Raikou and Entei to be able to obtain the rainbow wing. That's when ill use the Master ball as soon as I encounter Ho-oh because he's mine. Like I say just like Lugia hes Level60 right of the bat.

Once you've got the 3 legendary beast Ho-Oh is a fixed encounter, it's kind of a waste to use a Master Ball for a Pokémon that doesn't roam. Just save your game before the battle

I learned back then in the early 2000s that it was best have a Gengar with Mean Look and Hypnosis. Kinda easy when you trade thru Crystal and Gold or Silver since you can get Gastly in Sprout Tower. I was 12 years old when i figured that strategy out for the Crystal version.

It's better to use fast balls rather than ultra balls on Raikou. Caught it on my second try after my Ultra ball attempt.

If Raikou is too fast to catch why can't you simply level up smeargle and crobat to a level that is faster so that you can catch him with the same strategy you used on Entei?

I'm currently trying to catch Entei and it goes like this: I'm on Route 36, Pokedex says it's on Route 37, I go to Route 37, Pokedex says it's on Route 36, I go to Route 36, Pokedex says it's on Route 37... Went like this a couple of times and after a while I was just like, "I'm going to rip this damn lion's head off..." And Raikou I haven't seen at all in the entire game despite never using repell and training a lot in the grass.

Hey did you ever have any luck? Here's a tip: Save in front of the gatehouse before RT. 36 (between RT. 36 and the Ruins). Exit the gatehouse after soft reseting. Check the Dex. You have a 10% chance of hitting it on RT. 36. Also if it's on 38 or 42, bike to 37. If its on 34 bike to 35. If its on 32, bike through Violet straight to 32. If its on 31 bike straight through Violet + the gatehouse to 31. These are all high percentage chances to hit. If none of these happen on your reset, try again. Should only take about 5 minutes. @@RichieL1991 I had no luck using other methods but have encountered raikou ~6 times this last hour using your method. It literally took like 2 min to find it the first time. One thing to note for others though, is that in crystal you need a Pokémon with cut to get from route 36 to the grass in route 35 without going through national park (idk the situation in GS). I found my raikou in front of new bark town when I first saw it I was like wtf but then I realized that Raikou and Entei can be wild encounters
