​@@marcleveridge9591You need to find a copy of the original Pokemon Crystal. Either US v1.0 or v1.1 Rev C ( easier to get your hands on) then you have to patch the .ipc file over the original game. Then it should work with no problems! I did it with my phone and just used my old boy for the emulator.

If you're patient, you can get a Cubone with Thick Club in Union Cave! It doubles its attack power and has a 2-3% chance of a wild one holding it. With its good bulk, I think it's quite good! ^^ at least it has been for me as I just got all the Kanto badges with it on my team. Just buy a dozen pokeballs or so, save the game, catch Cubone, and if you run out of balls, reset and keep going so you don't spend a bunch on balls =)

​@@alonedownthere47Nope; the Thick Club does that ever since its introduction in gen 2! It can actually cause an overflow glitch where a Marowak using Swords Dance will break the maximum Attack value and wrap around to have like, 5 Attack afterwards lol

I LOVE THIS ROMHACK, man, i've been playing it a lot and having hondour/growlithe by the first gym made me see how varied the game could have been. I might restart with chikorita when im done, but having water/fire/leaf alternatives pretty early on is amazing.

Chikorita was my least used starter by a mile before this hack, so I chose it to see if it really was closer to on par with the other starters, and it's honestly super good. Getting leech seed and reflect early is a nasty combo. Giga drain having 15pp is absolutely huge for it, too, despite it being a minor tweak. Meganium wrecked on my playthrough. Totodile was always my fav, though, and I can't wait to see how hard it's hitting with bite since it is now physical. My alakazam from this playthrough can tell you how menacing bite is now as a physical attack, holy shit.

At first I was excited to use Houndour/houndoom because of fire and dark both being special. I found out through in game dialogue that dark is now physical, making Larvitar an amazing pick up. Which is now my new choice for a dark mon.

Did Pryce immediately after Morty and ended up being my first wipe, took 4 tries to beat his badge 5 team, so I can imagine that badge 7 team is tough. Pryce used to be one of the biggest pushovers ever, love how he's more of a challenge now

Been playing the Crystal Legacy romhack on my Retroid Pocket 3+ & been absolutly loving it. Currently at the Mahogany Rocket Hideout with 5 badges and a team around Lvl 26-28 consisting of: 1)Quilava 2)Flaaffy 3) Larvitar (finally I can use my favorite gen 2 evo line thoughout the whole game) 4) Politoad (thanks for the added feature to allow it to evolve without trading) 5)Heracross 6)Xatu I've really been enjoying discovering all the various changes, enhancements and suprises I've encountered so far that have been added. Hats off for the amazing job you and the rest of your team did on this Romhack.

I’ve never been so badly decimated by Bugsy before. Scyther with a Bug type Cut absolutely decimates Houndour and Hoothoot. I deliberately chose to not go with Mareep for my first playthrough, and chose Chikorita, so I was surprised at how hard this run suddenly became compared to other Crystal romhacks with the same team, even with everyone’s buffs. This rom hack is great!

It's not in the documentation but I cannot stress this enough: USE HERACROSS!!! (Headbutt trees still work the same as before, Cut AND Rock Smash both got insanely buffed and Heracross is now a monster!) Edit: If you're nuzlocking, as long as you have an Ekans it's guaranteed before Whitney, if not there is an online tool to find rare headbutt trees in Azalea Town based on your trainer ID and you can get it before Bugsy by catching a Furret (which learns Headbutt before you can access Cut to get it normally)

Been playing Legacy whenever I get the chance and I've been really loving the changes made. From the changes to bug typing to the 5th 6th and 7th gyms changing their team up depending on the order you fight them, I'm always looking forward to pulling out my steam deck to play whenever I get a break at work.

I've been doing a Normal type run of regular old Silver, and Furret has been exceeding my expectations tremendously. It's stats will never be "good", but it has a great movepool. Headbutt, Quick Attack, Dig, and Surf leave it surprisingly hard to wall, and I'm suprised how often I've been able to rely on it in a pinch.

Dunsparce is my favorite Pokemon of all time, and I'm thrilled to see them get love on this list! Seriously carried the early game, and decimated Whitney with a Glare/DefenseCurl/Rollout combo. I've even kept her relevant in the late game with Quick Claw'd Attract/Glare/Headbutt. Given just how many Pokemon you face are male, this has shut down entire teams, and Dunsparce has the bulk to tank most hits on a switch-in. All that aside, this hack has let me replay the first gen I ever played, but improved it so that it actually lives up to the nostalgic feeling in my head! Great job all around!

Onix is absolutely insane, I got mine in the Union cave so it obeys me. And then it got one shot because I forgot Pineco got Mega Drain. Basically stopped playing right there. This is why nuzlocking rom hacks gets pretty annoying most of the time

The honorable mention for Unown was funnily spot on. Decided to do a pseudo Nuzlock run where I just abide to all the rules except for the death rule just to get a grasp on the game before doing an actual run and the moment I found Unown it immediately clicked with me what I wanted to do with it. Combine that with Geodude conveniently learning Rock throw at lvl 11 with the lvl cap being at 10 plus the free exp share at the start and Falkner was a surprising easy sweep. I've never thought about ever using Unown in a Nuzlock strat and yet here I am. I have to say, kudos for giving Unown a niche.

I remember my first play through of silver and crystal years ago. I used Furret on my team and it was a menace. Though i probably wasted alot of good tm's on it. For Silver i did headbutt, dig, iron tail, Shadow ball. In crystal i did headbutt, dig, thunder punch and shadow ball

I just fought Falkner last night and I didn't have Mareep or Rock Throw on Geodude, and that Noctowl fainted 4 of my Pokemon and made me use two potions! Looking back I just had the absolute worst team and worst luck for the situation and it's not necessarily a harder game by any means, but it just makes so much more sense and gives a good, beefy challenge that's not going to leave you beating your head against any walls.

Picking up a rare Cubone you added to Union Cave, I leveled him to lv 13 where he learned headbutt and was able to use it to get a Heracross very slightly before you would normally find the TM. I thought that was neat. Seems like you can do it with a lv 16 Sentret too.

Hey man, just an idea but you probably should look into giving Paras or Parasect some other Grass Type Move to help them out with STAB Coverage. Parasect has to wait until level 40 to get Giga Drain, while Pineco gets Mega Drain really early on. While it has plenty of bug type moves to use and Spore is great, I'd probably try and give that line one more Grass Type move in a future update. I'm doing a monobug challenge right now, and a Grass Type move for Chuck's Poliwrath would have been really great.

I have used Dunsparce in every Johto game run since Soul Silver first came out. I find him quite useful in Gen 2 and in Gen 4, and my Johto party doesn't seem right without him anymore. In my latest Crystal save, my Dunsparce knows Headbutt, Dig, Glare, and Rock Slide, and he has been a solid asset throughout most of the game. Unironically one of my favorite Pokemon. I also can't live without a Wooper. They're incredibly useful as well. But I'm glad we're being given more options. We never got to enjoy dark types until way late in the game in og Crystal.

I ran Pichu and Lavatar in my early game, being able to para then spam rock throw was so good, especially when I grabbed the hard stone from the onix trade. Side note Yanma is a beast, super fast hits like a truck and gets it's two best moves pretty early on, it was a stonk pokemon up until jasmine and pryce where I swapping it for heracross, but I reckon Yanma would do amazing in E4, I cannot believe it was give base 105 atk.

I don't really understand how the pidgey line is in the end better than the spearow line. Pidgey has a slightly better bulk but atk and speed than spearow, pidgeotto is better for 2 level but then spearrow evolves into fearow whose stats are way better than pidgeotto's. Pidgeotto will have to wait for wing attack to be able to hit slightly harder on the flying type but it will be far weaker on the normal type (especially if you dedicate swift or return for them), even after becoming a pidgeot it will be less of an offensive menace than fearrow who will soon get drill peck. Pidgeot has a better bulk but weaker offenses (and bulk isn't their goal) and has less time to be more useful than fearow.

Plus the normal typing removing its fighting resistance sometimes makes its less bulky than fearow (brunos machamp wrecks pideot in my experiences) I ended up benching my pidgeot after Claire and just raising a scizor with wing attack. Not STAB, but you can set up with swords dance and still hit hard with it while having sweet bulk and resistances

Been playing 3 days straight and i love it. The balancing makes it the most fun Pokemon game ive ever played. I went with a team of mostly trade pokemon ive never used because i could never trade. Onix and steelix were honestly super fun to use. I Always thought onix was a meme, but without a physical special split you can fin polemon to wall with onix pretty frequently, and his low attack stat is pretty easy to work around when you have screech and rollout available. Ghastly going all or nothing on its hypnosis was so much fun, coule pull a clutch victory in even the most dire battles. Scyther with cut is a total menace, and im really surprised by how much i ended up using it. Cut on scizor is oppressive. An instant psychic destroyer

As a sleep user, I also go for Butterfree, and for some personal reasons. First of, my first ever shiny. And also my first ever mon I found with Pokérus. So it has a soft spot for me. Now then. It's fully evolved at level 10. Learns Harden as a Metapod. Can use String Shot to drop opponent's speed. Learns all the powders by level 17. Sleep Powder is also 75% accuracy (instead of 50 or 60 for Hypnosis), so much more effective and consistent. Also has access to wide range of moves via TMs. Learns Confusion and Psybeam by leveling up. I can honestly say it's the only one Pokémon that is part of my startup team (along with my starter, that I end up not using at some point), but Butterfree remains in my team until the very end (used to destroy Red's Snorlax with Butterfree, just to give an example). Best utility Pokémon in my opinion, depending on the moveset I decide to use. But hey, it's all about preferences, isn't it ? ;-)

I just finished the game, and it's awesome. You truly made replaying Gen 2 a much more enjoyable experience. That said, I think there are a couple of things that could be improved or added: - The level curve is a bit off in the second part of the game. I found myself 10 levels behind every Gym Leader in Kanto, and I faced Red at levels 57-60 when he was at level 75ish. - There should be some type of reward for breaking all the Alpha Ruins walls apart from the ones you get from clearing the puzzles. (I only got like 2 berries for catching Ho-oh?) - Kurt's Pokeballs should be instant instead of having to wait a day. (Having the balls work as intended could be nice too.) - It would be a good QoT change to have a way to fly from Johto to Kanto (and vice versa) without having to take the train each time. - A move relearner would be awesome to have. - Automatically change the pc box instead of receiving a Bill's call

I feel like Onix is a small trap if the level cap on traded pokemon is something that you are not aware of. You can only get Onix for Faulkner if you trade it against a Bellsprout. Since it is traded you will level up quickly and once its past level 10 it stops obeying you. So now you have the choice for Bugsy to either catch another one in union cave or hope that it obeys you until you beat Bugsy. So I agree its overall usefulness, but it basically come to if you want to use it against Bugsy or Faulkner. The same Onix is not that useable for both at once.

I just started playing. Picked up an early Cubone after Falkner, and it's bulk combined with decent offensive stats is pretty nice. Been playing since Gen 1, and pretty much never used one. Loving this hack, incredibly refreshing.

Zubat needs to be higher. Sweeps bugsy gym. Sweeps bellsrpout tower Provides ground immunity. Amazing move pool. And he will sweep the ghost gym with bits. As a crobat he is also a viable E4 encounter.

Its funny as my actual end game team (before watching this vid) was composed of : Gengar, Ampharos, Poliwrath, Meganium, Houndoom :D (+ Noctowl as early bird, got replaced by zapdos then articuno). Pretty great coverage, just sometimes lacking the ability to properly switch in (played on set). definitely never overleveled any part of the game

I used to catch Gastly early on in Crystal and do the trade for an Onix early game and would just mainline those two for hours to come. I also remember a time of leveling up a Togetic, Ampharos, and hoppips third evolution (I forgot the name...after jumpluff). That was a fun time! Oh also remember having a super high level furret who made it into the elite4 lineup. I also kept a sentret to level 99 😂

Poliwag puts in some work. I had it on the team cause I had caught it but never planned to use it. It single handedly saved me from a Falkner wipe by killing the Pidgey that had been roared out earlier by Houndour. Noctowl took out most of my team but Poliwag finished it off. It hadn't learned hypnosis and was severely underleveled.

Really excited to try this rom hack out after I finish Renegade Platinum for the first time. Out of curiosity, do you and your team have any aspirations to give any other Pokemon games the same treatment as Crystal Legacy? I would be interested to see what kind of take you guys would have on generations 3 -5.

Already on the second playthrough, with meganium now. I love the changes so far especially the accessability of pokemon. And oh boy if you don't train your pokemon, reds pikachu is a nightmare 😂😂

Been playing through this on set mode and it is genuinely quite hard! The trainers/gyms are always *slightly* ahead of your levels whereas in base they're always way behind

I knew this was a fine mod when Unown was a useful pick for the first two gyms. I was so happy to be using Johto mons in Johto; Geodude or Rattata were more common on the originals.

Can’t wait to use houndour in Johto like what should always have been. ❤ And I always love playing as my tomboy fave Kris; I think giving her Feraligatr, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Skarmory, and the Red Gyarados would be a fun aesthetic.
