If you've watched the rest of this Beginner Fly Fishing Masterclass, we've covered what gear you need and how to use it... but where do you find trout in a river? Today, we are going to cover one of our favorite water types - pools. As the current moves through a deeper section of the river, this creates a "pool" of slower moving water. Fish love to hold in the resulting seams and water columns. This is a great place to catch tons of fish, if you know where to find them!

Great video. And thank you for including your miscues. It's why my personal take on the stale joke is "That's why it's called screwing up not fishing." Seriously, even experienced anglers make mistakes. We beginner/intermediate types just make more! Which is why we catch less. (I know grammatically it's fewer but...) Great job guys!!!

I've seen a lot of trout in the shallow just behind the tail of a hole.

Air mending and keeping the tail part of the line off the surface would help you not miss most of those fish. When they hit you had too much slack to go through.

Awesome videos! So how do you net the fish without taking a swim? And how do you hold your rod and use two hands to tie on a new fly or unhook a fish? I have the most difficult time trying to secure my rod and use my hands to do other things. Put that in a video sometime. Thanks guys!
