Great hint...but not always true. It always happen that a musician leaves suddenly a band, or a music school etc... for a bigger gig and will ask a fellow to fill in for him.

The rip off artists are always looking for dumbasses with visions of glory in their heads. Those retards have kept the recording studios supplied with cheap labor fools that thought they were gonna be the next big thing. Rubes live to be admired. They can't stand the idea that they just might be a regular walkin around guy with modest abilities. So they give themselves away to the predators that are always looking out for dumb rubes. Look up the story about the rube that played on "Old Time Rock and Roll". He got real lucky and did that one tune then he got visions of grandeur and quit his job. He never recorded another song the rest of his life. It's a very old story but it happens over and over again. I've worked recording sessions where almost everybody was an unpaid intern. The bosses loved it and laughed all the way to the bank.

@EddieRamon -- there are still a ton of sessions done, not only in Nashville, but nationwide. I remain busy with session work as a guitarist but now most of our work is done over the internet with clients worldwide. ML
