Really useful tips to re-inspire us. I’m 73 (tho I look like 63, I feel 73! LOL! Not old and decrepit, just 73!). My style used to be “eclectic Bohemian w/flare, I’ve noticed I’m transitioning to a more classic look. Several yrs ago I found a picture of a featured older interior designer which really captured me. Her white/silver hair was loosely pulled back, big glasses, red lips, a leopard print tailored blouse (w rolled cuffs), turquoise velvet jeans, and loafers-- and that picture inspired me to go classic w/flare. I’ve also let my hair go natural and long. Your videos encourage me to be creative with a much smaller wardrobe (yes ... I found out I really did wear only 20% of my wardrobe 80% of the time). Paring down has not only simplified my life but also enables me to enjoy my clothes every day - and have style even if it’s a day at home. Sooo glad I found your channel!

I cannot believe you aren’t a KZbin sensation with more subscribers. The content you put out is relevant, well presented, inspiring & compelling. I love your sense of style. You are a key role model as I strive for an ethical closet that makes me feel “put together”, with a “positive body image” in clothes that are “elegant” “stylish” and “comfortable” all at the same time. Could you do more on dressing well understanding colours and body shape. Knowing what colours go great together is not something I feel competent with yet.

I know this is super old, but I'll comment anyway. I find that I am unsuccessful when I look for photos of style inspiration. Most photos seem to just be tall, skinny women wearing jeans and a moto jacket. They look great but there isn't an abundance of short, curvy women to give me real style inspo. And when I find them, they wear tight midi skirts and stilletos, which don't work for my lifestyle. I find that taking inspiration from items I already have and love is a better way to go. If I have a pair of boots that are so completely totally me, what would match those boots? All the other tips I completely agree with though! Love youu

Awesome video with great tips, I've been using most of these in my life already, because I declutter smartly and before donating I write notes on why it was a bad purchase so I never do the same thing again. I discovered that high waisted anything...is NOT my jam, I am highwaisted (short torso long legs) so i discovered that i should be really disturbed should I find any Trouser that actually reaches my waist. I designed a fitted dress once and had a seamstress make it for me in another country when my parents went over...at the time i didn't know I was high waisted so I measured it to come in at my natural waist and I was inspired by a proportioned model... it arrived and I was so confused about why the wiast was almost near the neckline haha! (Of course I exxagerate) Midrose makes me look like I've got a longer top half. Being high waisted I have long legs naturally as well. Next I am broad shouldered, if a shirt fits my bust it doesn't fit my shoulders and if it fits my shoulders and has bust darts in it... There's extra space in the bust area... I looked carefully at the shirts I wear and do not wear (or only wear when I can cover up with a Cardigan) and yup, I only wear shirts that fit my shoulders and a straight cut not fitted with bust darts, I wear mostly straight cut things, turn myself into a rectangle and belt the waist... Or just leave the rectangle as is. And this was before realising that's how you're meant to dress a Triangle shape which means I subconsciously looked for proportion and it isn't a result of me restricting myself because someone told.me this is how a triangle should dress (as I know people are really against "dressing for your body type tips")
@AlyssaBeltempo5 жыл бұрын
So interesting! Yes, I think it's so good to know your body shape and what looks good on you and to take those body shape rules with a grain of salt so as not to restrict experimenting with what you like and what looks good! In terms of the pieces that I actually keep and love and am always drawn to, I believe my style icons are Audrey Hepburn and Audrey Tautou. I love classic timeless pieces with a twist- an injection of color, statement jewelry or something else unexpected/ different. I’m drawn to things that are creative and different but really easy to pair and wear every day. I think my three words are classic, feminine, and fun. Can you recommend any brands that might be a good go-to for me or maybe other than celebrities or style icons that I can reference? I’d like to be more focused and intentional going forward and have a wardrobe that feels curated and not boring.

Hey there! That's a great trio and I LOVE the Audreys lol I would also check out Clemence Poesie, Jenny Cipoletti and Olivia Palermo. In terms of brands - I think Reformation and Thacker NYC could be a good fit! I hope this helps :) and that you enjoy building a curated closet ... it's a slow process but a fun one :) Thanks so much for watching xx
