I grew up on Lake Lanier. If you want to be successful in that lake you have to learn brush piles. Clear water vs Stained water is a issue. As you know clearer water calls for smaller diameter line and precise presentation. Stained not so crucial. I used a drop in approach. Not the small hopping presentation that I've seen made so popular. I did use the " Lanier Rig" which was a 1/4 - 3/16 bullet weight threaded on your line followed by a glass bead paired with a round shank, offset 2/0 Gamakatsu hook. That rig would have a Zoom Finesse worm in Limeaid color. I actually preferred the brass weight and glass bead over the lead weight and plastic bead. It's 4 times louder and I feel a better attractant than the other. But when I fished more stained water I like a rattle loaded in whatever plastic bait I'm throwing. Great video Mr Crews!!!

Finding them with a basic 5 inch graph video would really help for those of us with the 5 inch Splitshot/Tripleshot.

one of the most important thing you mentioned is the editing out part. Too many people forget that fishing isn't a bite every cast like in the videos we watch on KZbin. Many time, all the bites in the 10min video takes all day...I hope new fisherman realize this and don't look at it as a negative experience when they don't catch fish every cast.

Great video and great info . What did you say is the best color worm for the summer?

John good video quality. Seams like there is a push to use straight shank pin grip hooks vs offset worm hooks to get fish out of the brush. Your thoughts?
@JohnCrews
@JohnCrews 3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Straight shank hooks are best for close distance hook sets

Better late than never, but I have a question regarding your Fat John 50 . Great video on your Little John Series, plus the one in mid Sept. Are there any plans on coming out with the Fat John 50 in Chrome/ Olive color? I had a blast yesterday evening fishing the Fat John 50 and 60 and bouncing them off objects, stumps, limbs etc. MAN! did it ever work.
@JohnCrews
@JohnCrews 3 жыл бұрын
The chrome olive color is getting popular. I will try to make them expand that color in other cranks in the line. I would use them too!

Love you videos Mr. Crews!! I know you just posted a frog basic video but I want to know if the Spro bronzeye Shad fits into your gear and which frogs you use for particular cover or weather. Always rooting for you in all the Bass Master events you fish! Good luck and have fun

Can you talk about why you run both a bird and a lowrance at the console? I was thinking about doing the same thing on my boat. Using the bird for side imaging and mapping and lowrance for down imaging and 2d

When you go out graphing waypoints for a tournament, is there a certain time of year you will graph for only brush piles? Or will you graph looking for them all (rock piles, hard bottom, ledges, weed lines, brush piles, etc)
@JohnCrews

Brush is typically best in post spawn and summer but I have caught bass out of brush piles all year.

Thanks for the video, I've watched all of yours videos from "How to" playlist. It would be nice to see some video about your thoughts on different types of reels - Shimano DC, Daiwa SV TW, magnetic/centrifugal systems etc. Greetings from Ukraine.
@JohnCrews
@JohnCrews 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I have used Daiwa Tatulas for a few years. They are work horses. Love them. I have a bunch of Zillion SV TWs on order. That is the most amazing reel I may have ever cast. The Shimano DC line is strong but a little weird for some techniques.

@@JohnCrews Thanks. The DC is great for throwing into the wind and baits with with larger profile. By the way, here interesting comparison between ZILLION 1000 VS 2020 METANIUM MGL kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJy6noWjnpyrmMk

I enjoyed your video. I’d like it if you would talk the specifics of speed, and how you use your hands and rod. Technique specific. I was able to watch your hands some however your description of what yard are physically doing would be helpful. As I said good video I learned from it. Thank you Rori

Would you try and work around the entire brush pile and choose different angles or at that point when you have hit them with both of your different presentations, just move on?

I think Sniper is garbage for cranking. Frays way too easily. Constantly having to re-tie or I'm breaking off mid cast or on a little snag. Seager for me
