Former Fisheries Biologist here ... Jordan, you gave perhaps one of the best descriptions of coho behavior that I've ever heard. I really like how you tie their aggressive behavior towards prey that is falling in the water (dying or weak) to their life history. Well done!

Great in depth video as always. Noticed in the faster moving water, as the jig got down stream of you and you didn't need to reel anymore, your jigging motion got shorter than when it was straight across from you. Is the jig itself still down in the strike zone the further downstream you are or is the current lifting that jig up higher in the water column with the increased current flow?

Not even a bite in weeks float fishing, spinners, spoons, so I thought I might as well figure out jigging. My 6'6"medium rod only had 10lb braid on it, but I really dig not think, just practicing. I practiced jigging 'in the box' and hooked a Steelhead right below me, pulled up..... and the line broke. Somewhere, a Steelhead is swimming around with a bright pink jig and 6' of line. Already put on heavier braid. Lesson learned.

What size reels do you guys prefer for coho and bigger fish? Is that 2500 is small ( stradic) ?
@HATINTHEKAT
@HATINTHEKAT 3 жыл бұрын
For cohos a 2500 reel could work, I think most would prefer a 3000 just for a little more capacity and usually a bit more drag pressure and for balancing a rod out better, that being said, a 4000 sized will easily work also, really depends where you fish, you could literally even use a light action rod with a 1000 sized reel if you had the space to play the fish out and your gear or terminal gear didn’t fail you

Hey homie, I love you, your information, and your channel, but if you say this is one of your more "atypical runs" it means that it is unusual, or not typical. Also, you said jigs' versatility is what makes them so "obsolete", which means they are no longer produced or used. If that's what you meant, then fair play, but it sounded a bit contradictory. Edit: Looks like a bunch of people already pointed this out. Keep up the great content!

Definitely, in my area twitching jigs is extremely popular, even more so than the usual “metal jigs”, just use the appropriate weight jig and equipment and you’re good, and it’s best to rinse your jigs off and let them air dry before storing them or anything, keeps them nice

@@lemon-iu7bo depends on which salmon you’re going for, pinks love pink of course, they also like some white and orange mixed in too with the pink, but they’ll bite most jigs presented to them, silver salmon love pink and white, chartreuse, chartreuse and white, oranges, reds, blacks, purples, and combos of those colors, and herring blues greens and silver flash, to name a few, chum really like black, green, purples, blues too, kings like their usual herring colors like green silver and blue, green and yellow, whites,

Believe me sir, I suck at fishing and am trying very hard to improve by watching all kinds of instructional videos. When I discovered Addicted and especially their instructional videos, I found gold. He does talk kind of fast. However, if you really focus on what he is saying, it definitely all makes a ton of sense. Maybe give them another look and really concentrate on what he's describing and I think you will see what I mean. Don't think he knows what obsolete means either. Obsolete means people have found better alternatives to the thing that has become obsolete. So basically you're telling us that hair jigs aren't useful anymore which isn't the message you're sending us from the context of the explanation. I think he should spend less time searching for big words he doesn't understand and more time showing us mortals how to fish.
