Fitted mine after whilst watching this video. Make sure you have a socket wrench 🛠, snips & a durable plastic trim removal tool before starting your installation. I didn't read the instructions that came with the hardwire kit I just followed this tutorial & mine works fine 👍 11 plate fiesta S1600.

Great tutorial, I've just done mine. A bit daunting for the novice, but everything good. I managed to do mine without removing the dash side panel by threading the wire from the fuse box end to the camera. There are two good earthing points directly above the fuse box. Thanks for the vid.

Great how-to video. Thank you! Your tip of using small wrapped zip ties to tuck the wire into the headliner is brilliant. For American owners, I have a 2017 FiST and I used fuse F8. It's a 7.5A used for the sunroof and it's powered by the ignition. 2nd little one up from the bottom on the right. Perfect.

Only thing I would say is that bolt for the negative connection requires a long socket extension for the ratchet because it’s bloody tight! Taping it to the little metal gap just above works fine, it’s just not as secure. Thanks for sharing.

Mine is a 2010. The fuse board was a slightly different shape but the fuse is in the same place. 2nd from the left bottom row.

Thank you so much! Perfect tutorial. Only thing I found was that the spade connector wouldn't go around the 10mm bolt you showed. I used one above the fuse box which was smaller and seemed to connect to the dash 'rail', hopefully it's okay. It seems to work well!

Excellent video. I did not know that Piggy Back fuses were available and they seem like a great idea. But does anyone know if the Mk 6 Fiesta offers an Auxiliary ignition key position (as opposed to only live when driving) so that I could supply a Bluetooth adapter from it and use the phone when parked? I have not yet been able to find a fuse that would do this but there must be a circuit somewhere as it operates the radio this way.

You were super fast last time so this is a long shot to save my day… I’ve finally got around to fitting my dash cam and everything was going well but now both my dash bolts are stuck fast so I’ve WD40’d for a cuppa or two but forever pessimistic, are there other good earth points nearby I can use which you can explain in the simplest terms please?

Any bolt or screw that goes in to unpainted bare metal will do the job fine. Basically the black wire has to touch the metal of the car body. 👍🏻

I see all of MK6 Mk7 Fiesta owners are sticking the dash cam on the dotted zone behind the mirror. The problem is that back there the wipers are not cleaning the windshield. How is afterwards the footage in the frosty wheader or when is raining?

The mount has to be just above the wiper sweep area so that the lens can be just under the wiper sweep area. If you go lower the camera is classed as an obstruction and so is illegal (UK,not sure on other country's)

Just one question: I've seen situations where the kit has been connected to a permanent live fuse so as there is power for the Parking and G modes. Should this be done, or will there be problems? Yes that would drain the cars battery,you can buy parking mode kits that have both constant power and switched power cables. A lot of cameras have a parking mode that works on battery back up but this is only designed for short stay parking,not long periods of time.

Hi I own a very nice Mondeo 2015 Titanium and Helfords have fitted the same Dash Cam to my car - however I am not sure the permeant live tap fuse is being used for the parking mode as the camera turns off when I leave the car. I assume in parking mode it will stay on unless my batt level drops below a certain level? Warm regards Richard

Great informative video.Just attempted to hardwire my dashcam on 04 fiesta ghia uk.Fusebox layout same as yours used multimeter as shown but could not get a voltage reading. After pluging in piggyback cable with orig fuse and camera fuse as shown(Very sloppy fit) tried on hot...voltage on all the time and when only ignition on. but to no avail. I can get readings which are great on all the sockets i tested but not when I used the piggyback cable, Im thinking the cable is faulty, bad connection. Any ideas?

Hi found this video, ideal as I've a Fiesta 2017, all going well, until went to put the ignition on no power to Dash cam, used the same fuse, checked the fuse was live as ignition turned on, then off when off, checked no problem with fuse, retried the unit with the cigarette lighter lead just in case all good. Anything else I can try before I take it in to the garage? at least the wiring is in place. Good video though very easy to follow :)

@@NigelSmith-uz2wy Sounds like it’s not earthing properly or very rarely the hardwire cable is faulty. They have a 12v to 5v convert box in the cable with a little red light on them. So - Check red light is on and if not check earth and if that’s ok it might be a faulty cable.

How can you see what fuse delivers what voltage? I need a 12v source. In my 2009 fiesta. So I can add a Bluetooth device and some USB ports. I will use a buck converter also to convert it from 12v to 3.7v for bt device. Is there any lower voltage source in the car.? Like a 5v?

Hi that is the one I followed to do my ST200 but the new fiesta has a different fuseboard and what I think are micro fuses and three prong fuses which seem to cover two items . Thanks for the reply I will see if I can borrow a tester to find an appropriate fuse. I had to contact Nextbase to get the correct size Fuse Tap sent out, they were really good had sorted it out within 4 minutes of me logging the ?

When I piggy back to the existing fuse, only one of the two slots then works, but if I switch them round then the other works. I.e when I fuse to the rear wiper, either wiper works and camera doesn’t or if I switch round the camera works and wiper doesnt. Any suggestions?

Next Base cams have a small battery in them for parking mode and so only require an ignition switched.

I have a 2007 fiesta and looking to hardwire in a dash cam as if I put a dash cam into a cigarette socket it drains my battery as there is continuous power coming from the cigarette socket even when the engine is turned off. Will hardwiring a dash cam solve this problem ?

An excellent tutorial but just one point. Should you not check which end of the fuse is protected by the original fuse? In other words which way round the piggyback should go. Am I not correct in assuming that if it is put in the wrong way, the current for the original circuit ends up going through the dashcam fuse?

Yes the fuse has what is termed as a hot side. The hot side is the power feed in to the fuse and so yes the fuse spur needs to me on the correct side. I did mention this in older videos but all it did was confuse people and spur lots of questions, so now days I don't mention it and as long as the fuse spur is put in the same way as on the videos all will be fine.

@@PJsprojects Thanks for the reply and for clearing up my query. Actually, I think in my case, I am going to use what I believe to be a spare fuse. I have a 2011 Titanium WITHOUT heated seats and the type 2 Passenger Compartment Fuse Box. Yet there is a 7.5A fuse in position 10 which the owners guide says is for heated seats. I think I will just remove that fuse and replace it with the piggy back with only one fuse inserted to power the dashcam. Hopefully the guide is right and there is not another circuit protected by Fuse 10. However, I still found the guide very informative - especially the tip about wrapping tape around cable ties to stop the cable dropping down from the headlining. I am also going to look at rewiring the dashcam in my Jaguar XE that has a DAB radio. I did not know about the filters and fitting one may improve the DAB reception that is not always very good. Thank you for that.

By plugging in to one of the empty sockets its possible the ecu will try and read an optional extra that is not fitted and so could throw a fault code.

Wired all mine up today but for some reason, the camera wouldn't turn on. Tester shows power on the fuse but camera has no power. Earth is ok also. Maybe a problem with the kit i bought?

@@jenksbluebird The Nextbase cable kit has a little black box in it that converts the voltage to 5v. Check it to see if it has a little red power light on. If it does - 1. Cable faulty 2. Camera faulty 3. Plug not pushed in camera fully If no red light - 1. Power cable is getting no supply 2. Fuse holder has bad connection 3. Poor Earth connection 4. Fuse blown/bad

These cameras can flatten the battery when connected to a constant live. I’ve fitted hundreds and people that don’t listen often end up with a flat battery. The cameras do state they switch off when battery is low but this is now always the case. The camera is not designed as a surveillance camera.
