How to fit a motor mover

I might have put up the the U bracket first with the grub screw slightly tightened than push the motor and the square box through first I have to amend my above comment , I’ve just fitted a freedom mover and it does not work fitting it that way ,the grub screw lugs the tighten the axle beam will not go through U brackets ,so as they say I found out the hard way , but I still did it on my own on my back under the caravan ,and I’m 76 years old . So good for Powertouch for producing a quality mover that’s easy to fit .

Made fitting my single axle a doddle when my pal supported the weight of it while clamping this is in my opinion a two person job due to the weight otherwise a doddle 😊

This is a great instructional video so much so that my awd movers have arrived today. Only thing you missed that would help is how you sync both control boxes to one hand control. i appreciate its in the paperwork that comes with it but I follow things easier watching someone. Thanks anyway

when doing a sharp turn do 2 wheels pivit /not move... or turn the other way, because some videos ive watched the caravan pivits on 2 wheels.. ( twin axcel ) hope you know what i mean..

With a 4wd mover the opposite side movers come on and off to turn the wheels and take the pressure off the, but it will only reduce the drag and won't turn it on its axis. It's still a slow turning circle that needs a good amount of room.

My isolation switch is under the front seat near the boiler should it be in the battery?

No sometimes they will be put inside the caravan, its perfectly safe. 👍

Thanks for a great video. I have quad Pwertouch movers fitted to my Bailey Porto. Given that the jack points are no longer accessible, do you think it is ok to jack the caravan underneath the square box section on the motormovers, just to the outside edge of the clamps (e.g. directly below the caravan chassis)? Thanks

some will disagree, but if its a proper trolley jack, you can go onto the chassis rail, or onto the axle if enough room. i wouldn't go onto the mover bars.

Only comment here is, that, in the ECB's M1 and M2 (Left and Right) are also opposite depending on whether the motor is in front of the axle, or behind it. The polarity stays reversed. Hope that makes sense.

I like manual as less to go wrong, we have less issues but not by a huge amount, more when they get a bit older.

Hi.. so one controller is doing the back set of motors. pos to pos neg to neg one side , and pos to neg and neg to pos on the other side ... thats rear controller.. the copy it again for the front controller . is that correct

Yes that should work, again just check each roller is going in the correct direction once fitted, its easy to swap over if going the wrong way.

I have taken my old evolution mover off my old van ready for fitting to the new van I noticed that when i lifted it by holding the motor the motor moved up in the guide is this normal or do you think the guide pin is worn it happens on both motors so not sure if its normal or not

I do believe they ah e a little movement in which is normal, if you see another one fitted to another caravan you may be able to check it has the same movement as yours?

I have an older style powertouch.when I used it before going onto site this weekend all was fine.but then I rechecked before leaving and noticed when I use the socket to engage both sides,1 seems not quite as tight as other side and the sliders were in a different place to other side.when in operation the side that doesn't slide over properly doesn't stay engaged to the wheel...how can i fix this please.advice would be gratefully recieved.

If its moving correctly and locking over ok then its 4 bolts underneath and you can adjust the gap. If its the mechanism as you engage the mover then they have little cotta pins in the joints and it could be one of these is failing. Have a good look at both sides and see if you can see any difference to the action. If not its possible to just adjust the gap back to about 15-20mm from the mover roller to the tyre when disengaged from the tyre.

As long as you check its working you should be ok. Just look at the rollers and make sure they are ok and no knocking when they turn.

Most will now fit, but some older motor movers won't fit a caravan with shock absorbers, and a single axle mover shouldn't be fitted to a twin axle caravan.

Yes you can just add another mover and control box, pair the new control box and old remote.

@@hcashmore11 you could possibly try to move the mud flaps behind the mover but they may get in the way. You can get a kit to move the spare wheel carrier further back, powrtouch should be able to supply this for the alko chassis.

No, but if you call POWR touch and see if they have brackets to suit, or just make some C brackets.
