This is a DIY guide to fitting a suspension lift kit in a Gen 4 Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero.
UPDATE: Buy your strut spacers here if you can't make your own. rover.ebay.com...
TWO LIFT KITS:
A decent affordable lift kit off ebay: rover.ebay.com...
And this kit is using higher quality shocks, so cost a little more. rover.ebay.com...
In this example, the kit is 2" Dobinson springs with Commando foam cell shocks. I added 11mm strut top spacers in the front to level out the suspension because I don't particularly like the raked stance. For some reason even if you order a regular 2" lift kit the rear of the vehicle will be higher than the front. The strut top spacers level out the ride.
The strut top spacers were an AGRU backing ring. OD: 150mm. ID: 78mm. Thickness: 11mm. Stainless.
Once the kit is fitted, lower it to the ground and make sure you tighten up all the nuts and bolts.
Good luck.

Did my upgrade OME about 6 months ago. Sits about 1.5" taller because of the stiffer springs much needed ride quality. I also changed the tie rods, upper control arms and lower ball joints. Sway bar bushings and links in front too. Still have to finish the rear sway links and bushings.

Subframe drop kits actually keep the same angle as whatever spring lift is fitted to the vehicle. So if you had a 2" suspension lift and added a 2" subframe drop kit then the CV and control arms would still stay at the same angle as just having a 2"lift

Should I bite the bullet to spend more get good shocks or will shocks like Webco be good enough? Cheers :)

Thank you for the detailed vid. I've done the rear on my NM and going to do the front this weekend. Will now look for spacers for the front as I'm the same, I want it level. Rear my camber is out. Any tips for getting the top 3 bolts on the front shock/spring combo aligned with the bottom bolt that mounts the shock?
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah get someone to hold the spring/shock and push it up through the 3 holes. Thread the 3 nuts on but only a few turns (don't tighten them). Then get the bottom shock bolt in. After the bottom shock is in, tighten the top nuts. You've got to really force down the A frame to get that shock bolt in. A second pair of hands really helps. Good luck

Did. The rear not need to be touched because you left the bolts loose till you lowered the vehicle? I had tightened mine and the camber is out by a bit. (Top of the wheel too far out) guessing a reset. Lift, bolts taken out, re grease, put back in loose, lower, and retighten? This sound right?

I know its 3 years since you wrote this comment but for anyone else this is what I did. I took a vice grip with a towel (so I wouldn't hurt the shock) and clamped it on to the shock boot. then when I turned the nut the vice grip hit the wheel well and held it in place while I tightened the top nut.
