How to fix a broken car truck key

Thanks Johnny G.! I got a 2007 Ford focus and the key plastic snapped off. I called the dealership and they wanted $33 for a new key and $150 to program it! WHAT A RIP OFF! Youu saved me a ton of dough bro!

Hey it's been three years since you made this video - How did that key fob repair hold up? I have a broken key, the same kind, and am thinking of trying this

They hold up pretty well, and just in case it breaks you can always buy another and do it again instead of paying a couple hundred for a replacement, you can buy the kit in autozone, Oreilys, advance or online

Bought this since the key is the same type for a Ford Ranger. with this added it will not fit properly into the key ignition switch unfortunately. Save your money.

It will fit but some older models have a key guide, the plastic around the the key entrance, all you have to do is shave the front corners of the fob repair kit just enough to allow the key to go in, not too much though, or it’ll make it brittle

Yes shave the front side of the fob repair plastic with a single edge blade, or whatever works for you but don’t shave it too far off, just keep shaving and inserting the key till it fits, I’ve done it plenty of times and it works, I sell cars and this happens a lot, good luck

Nope, that did not work. The key now is too fat i could not push the key all the way in to start the truck. Same Ford key, same product number.,

Older model vehicles have a slot that guides the key, what you need to do is shave off the corners of the repair kit slightly, just enough for the key to go in, don’t shave too much though it I’ll make it brittle, that’ll do the trick
